Hi guys my name is rick shields down here at trafford girl center in manchester. And we're doing some callaway uh hybrid testing and fairway wood testing these are the new big bertha alpha 815s i've just done the hybrid. So go and check out my channel if you've not already seen it and now we're going to go. For the fairway wood they've lost the sock bit which i'm not a big fan of but anyway it doesn't matter it's nice like a boxing glove a mini boxing glove and underneath it unveils unveils this really nice looking fairway wood uh kind of a dark black finish a bit like the version they brought a version of this out the alpha and last season but they've got i'll start last season should we say but this one's got more adjustability it's got two weights in the bottom section which you can swap. And change over it's a 30 gram and a three gram which you can swap depending on what kind of ball flight you want i've got the weight in the back. And i'm going to keep it here because i like that big high ball flight you can change the loft as well. So it goes up two degrees and all the way down it goes down one degree as well i've got this in a 14 head but i've got it set at 14. um so it's got adjustability for a three wheel that's pretty impressive you can only change the height change the spin you can change the loft you can change the line goal you know these clubs are really becoming one straight off the shelf. And you can tweak them. And adjust them i've got the normal speeder this comes with the club speeder stiff flex fujikora and the classic looking club it looks it does look really good. So how i'm going to do this review i'm going to hit three real golf balls on the driving range to figure out how far i'm hitting this club roughly. And take it on the golf course see how it performs on the simulator and see if it works or not so we've got like i say the callaway the big bertha the alpha and looks wise behind the ball it is just a classic look i used to have years ago the steelhead plus. And it's kind of got that look to it quite a dark finish not the depth it's quite a narrow it's quite a shallow face it's got a kind of dark finish to it which looks really good no alignment tool on the top let's give it a hit oh yes nice start with that a little bit drawy. But that's my shape normally felt good i would expect about 240 carry with this loft and that's pretty much where it was 247 a bit longer maybe because i drew it a touch. But felt really nice and felt very easy to hit with its low profile and that's going to work. For players who want to hit this off the fairway obviously the fairway wood but a lot of players will just generally hit the fairway wood off the tee i think this one is good if you struggle with a fairway wood off the floor try. And get one quite low shallow profiled they're much easier to hit let's go a couple more then.
We're going to jump on the course little tiny bit off the bottom. But it performs very well even off center that's still 240 and that was right off the bottom of the club 237 that wasn't hit particularly well you can tell by the height of the shot. But still produce some great numbers some really impressive numbers actually very nice i'm impressed with that considering it wasn't a good hit let's go one more that was the one that's the one that's a great golf shot i love the flight of that landing pretty much on that straight line i love the the kind of trajectory it's not mega high you can obviously change the loft a little bit i've got the weight at the back. So you move that forward it would come a little bit lower a little bit lower spinning but felt very good so i'm carrying that on average let me just check i'm carrying that on average at 240. so pretty much exactly where i'd expect it to be there's a two four seven a two three seven it's kind of doing what it should do this club is doing exactly what it should do with loads of adjustability i'm gonna jump out in the golf course see how it reacts when it's landed into a green uh we'll go on the pothole will be good i'll tell you what let's have a go at the tenth let's play at the tenth maybe from the yellow tees see if i can get it landed on that green with this club right. So i've brought out onto the 10th tee and i've placed us 248 yards away from the flag the 10th one is the famous short par 4. it doesn't matter let's let's see if we can get it on the green with the big bertha fairway wood see how it kind of reacts once it lands this should be a comfortable hit. For this london about 240 should get it absolutely perfect oh if that stays online that has got a great chance over the trees this will be the green in a minute oh just gone a little tiny bit to the right. But was comfortable easy distance to get to that green two four nine carrier you can see on the stripe location i didn't quite get it in the middle a little bit from the toe. But still good performing distance wise it's a fraction downhill but i'm 250 yards away from this flag so it's not that far downhill let's uh let's go two more is it there is it there over the trees over the trees oh see that bunker oh. And again i don't think it was absolutely ripped it was in the middle i must admit it was in the middle this time at least oh i've got the distance. For this i have got the distance come on last one can it knock it on the tenth hole at the brabazon yeah yeah that is good that is good stay on line ball stay online perfect knocking it on the green with a fairway wood it carries long it carries 240 it's comfortable to hit i'm hitting off the floor i'm not hitting off a t-peg uh 241 carry strike location was excellent it stopped relatively quick considering it hit a green from with distance it works it is a club that absolutely works i love the low profile i like the adjustability options i've not changed this in this video i might do that in the future tell us what you think do you like the new big bertha ranges you're happy with them i quite like those two the hybrids.
