Hi guys my name's rick shields down here at trafford golf center and we're going to be testing some new callaway woods we've got the alpha the big berth alpha 815 fairway wood. And hybrid this video is going to be about the hybrid check out the fairway on my channel um loving this by the way loving this little sock head cover i didn't particularly like the design on the driver. But i do like this because it's just got a bit of neck. But this is the uh big bertha alpha 815. And it's the hybrid version um not on a hybrid review for a while so how i'm going to do it is i'm going to hit three shots on the driving range simulator find out how far i'm hitting it. And then.
Take that out onto the golf course to see how it reacts when it lands on the green as well as in on the golf course on the simulator um i've tested this so far it's been pretty good i quite like it it says speeder stiff flex fujikora i've got it in 20 degrees but you cannot change the loft you can go up by two. And down by one you can change the line goal you can do all sorts of different things um which is good. For a hybrid you don't normally get that nice bit of adjustability but it's a powerful club it's a powerful hitting club it's got a bit of a kind of a slot here which they've described as a hyper speed face cup um so producing fast speed and behind the ball it looks quite almost quite boxy in its shape so it doesn't look as um i don't know as long as hybrid looking it almost looks more like a box which looks good i've got it on gc2 with hmt i'm going to be hitting some real golf balls. And let's give it give it a bit of a hit now 20 degree hybrid my prediction for that would be about 220 yards carry normally for a 20 degree hybrid so see how this performs in relation to that it's nice it's not a bad start down there i don't think i absolutely got that straight out the middle of the club it's that felt a bit off the bottom 213 of carry like i said i'm expecting probably 20 degrees about 220 yards. But i don't think i hit that one right in the meat good ball flight it's like a lower ball flight i would say from a normal hybrid that's kind of what they brought this design into i think it did more design. For that kind of penetrating flight yet loads of power because of that what they call it again hyper speed face cup hyper feed that's a nice mouthful yeah very nice that that'll be near that 220 unless it goes past it yeah about 222 felt nice to hit felt pretty easy good direction straight down the middle there i felt like i hit that one a lot better that time let's go one more. And i'm going to take it out onto the golf course yeah it's a definite lower ball flight. For a hybrid that i'm used to i like that flight for a hybrid i don't actually particularly carry a hybrid because i find that they go far too high and i then.
Struggle with any real distance control uh 219 average carry distance which is pretty much where i said it was going to be. But felt really easy with the slightly lower flight so the total distance was near to 250 on the simulator presuming it's landing on the fairway. But carrying it around that 220 mark so i'm going to now take it out to the golf course put myself at home i'm about 230 away. And see how it performs and how it lands and how it reacts when hitting into a green very good so far the callaway big bertha alpha pretty good right so i've now brought us out to the 18th hole at the brabusin the belfry i've paused 230 yards away from the flag which is a big very big long green. So this is exactly where i would need this club let's see how it reacts when it hits the green hopefully hits the green anyway. For the first three shots i hit they were pretty straight. So hopefully it can keep that continuing. But with that lower ball flight will it stop quick enough let's give it a go oh that's good that is good stay there bull superb oh wow well that's that done thanks.
