All right guys so we've got some mid handicap testing we've got rob potter oh our trusty mid handicap tester back we've got a range of golf clubs for him to test and we're going to be starting off with the new callaway pm mac daddy grind yeah talk us through it giddy are you excited. For this today.
Aren't you you're exciting in general anyway i'm getting in general because i've not done this. For a while so i'm kind of kind of a bit ring rusty but yeah i'm just loving this the grooves it's just ridiculous yeah exactly it's it's fabulous. So we're gonna do a test with the uh the pm grind the phil nicholson grind wedge the one with the massive face loads of grooves uh all the way up to the toe all the way up to the top uh we're gonna do 20 yards 50 yards 100 yards re using the real golf balls of callaway chrome uh. So we can just see how they react when they're going into the greens yeah yeah. So you like grand touchstone locks this is your stage yeah they look. For it i've got a bit i do like uh traditional wedge shapes um. So the new mac daddy threes they brought out i love the look of them one review coming through this um this p this phil nicholson grains this this pm grind i was looking at this one. For more um using it as for flop shots and stuff like that as my my trick club so to speak so i'm looking at going up to maybe four wedges now instead of the three i wanted this is my fourth wedge yeah. So it was just another option to try. And play it should i use it as a bunker wedge uh should i then.
Go or do it as a flop wipes. And get a 60 or something like that so i'm trying to get an idea of how to feel and what i want to try and spec up my golf bag now for the wedges so we're going with 56 on this just because we want to do the range of 20 50 100 yards yeah uh we'll see how we get on with the the full shots anyway because you said you've not had a full 56. For a long time 15 years nick faldor wilson iron was the last one i hit. And i've still got it it robs history again right robo let's give it a go 20 yards 20 yard chip so we've got it mapped out we've got on gc2 yeah um you ready yeah ready yeah let's go bring it up there you get on it's 20 yard chip. So go on talk us through the looks behind the ball the look behind the ball is it's massive um he's huge he's he's gonna bring confidence because there's. So many so many um amateurs including myself who's done the occasional word beginning with s um and also as well hit stuff off the tour never had a reaction with this one if you want a really delicate shot you can purposely try. And play off the tour oh god there's plenty of room over there this certainly sounds and you're gonna get purchased yeah. And that's what you want so yeah i'm looking forward to this let's think it looks very lofted this is in 56. But with the face it just looks so because of the high toe it just looks really lofty yeah it does it looks ridiculous i've just had a quick look at the 60 degree one. And that's horizontal yeah it is crazy it's looks wise into the look of it how it actually appears yeah 20 yards let's give it a go. So do. So we'll see what the spin rate is coming out as well 20 50. And 100. that sounded lovely it nipped what a nice little shot nicely didn't it i feel nice yeah really soft as well which is a surprise uh i didn't think it would feel as soft as what it has done such a short shot that was spinning at two thousand three hundred which is a lot very very short shot well we just before saying that my spring rate on a wedge is probably non-existent um i i didn't think because i've got a very slow yeah nice temperature raw beard isn't that finished you know let's go another one at 20. just bring the ball a little bit closer to that black hole oh yep sorry boss nailed it perfect a little bit off the bottom groove though yeah it wasn't wasn't the best you see i mean it's run out a little bit further off the bottom groove not a great strike. But we've got we've got to test it under those conditions as well how much you've got 15 yards uh 2 500 spin that bottom groove will give it that little bit of extra zitch because you didn't get the height no let's go out to 50. no i'm happy with those two they're okay that's right we've got to test them under all different circumstances that's true that's true. So i'm going to put you to 53 yards away from this pin okay. So we'll see how it reacts to 50. so it's just in between the green and red flag i'm giving kind of rob a bit of a guideline yeah that's fine in level with the green flags good that's a lovely place that just feels. So nice grouping that's ridiculous we carried it 55 it literally stopped on the nose 6000 or 5947 of backspin i don't get spin like this there's a nice little that's a nice little pitch that yeah let's go one more at 50. yeah that was nice though yeah i have nothing much to follow really ever no pressure might come out a tiny bit shorter. But we'll see how that reacts and a nice shot lovely golf shot finished it bang on 50 yards or 49. i can live with that one they start quick don't they yeah they do. And that's the that's only the 56 we've got this in 13 degrees of bounce that's not even the 60 degrees i just wanted to do it i'm doing most of my testing with wedges with 56. i thought it would be right to get rob to do that as well i've got 46 52. And 58 in my bag uh they're the ways that i carry and believe it or not the wedge that i get the most stop on with any shot i play is a 52 right okay i get the more stop with that what wedge is that that's a cleveland cg15. And all three are cleveland c15s. But i've had them for the last 10 years or so now right um so it's yeah eight years roughly um. And the 52 is the one i get the most purchase on. So to get it from from this i'm really surprised that uh and really pleased that as well as new grooves go into it well yeah if you've had it. For eight years there'll be no grooves left. But even amount of balls that you ate i'm going to go 90 90 90 yards that's pretty much landed straight in that bunker right okay okay i can do that confused i've just said that. But where we're aiming on the driving range there's a bunker at 90 yards i could do landing on bunkers pretty easy not an issue boys. So full hit let's see how it reacts i reckon this is gonna get a bit of sexy backstreet on this could do i'm a bit short i think that's doing all right let's try it. Or just on the front edge we'll still see the uh the spin on it so i know i've got a little bit of meat to get 75 carry uh still 6700 reckon you can hit this full out oh yeah fuller than full let's let's go. For full load okay try. And get some beans it's a tiny bit left a bit less nailed it we're left well i didn't see it spin hit the green yeah stop zippage. So yeah i mean full out. For you for for a 56 to about 90 yards anyway yeah 7800 of spin now i'm not sure how that compares because we've not really tested much else. Yet no no we can use those figures against all the wedges that we're gonna be doing some testing on as well yeah um what's your thoughts what's rob's rating rob wrestling like that rob's right there you go i'm gonna copy right now um yeah i the feel is the thing. For me that i'm most surprised at um i'm i'm going to give just on on spin written on i'm going to give that a nine nine out of ten. And before people say it's not because it's just callaway and i like my callaway stuff the genuine feel of that is something i have not got off any of the wedges i've played. For a long long time and that is brilliant i think he's probably new wedge technology. For you as well but you once you once you test the other ones you'll start to realize the the differences between the wedges the head shape on this genuine when i say this is virtually identical to that wilson nick faldor wedge i had it wasn't like that yeah it was the the head shape is virtually identical really in 93 i got the wedge there you go guys 97 try. And find that wedge that rob's talking about so nine out of ten you like the look what do you think about the little alien windows alien spaceship windows at the back well you're never gonna see it it's something a bit different uh yeah no because technology behind it what they've had to do they've had to drill these holes out to make the lower end lighter because of all this top end right. So what they've done is they've drilled all the holes out substituted with alien windows. And put all the weight up at the toe that's the technology behind it that's great and i don't mind that it's when they start bringing things out in ridiculous colours and start recalling ridiculous names for the sake of this will sell because it looks that way you don't see it. But as long as it works for the technology that's what i want i don't know it's roger cleveland design and he knows how to design a website stuff so nine out of ten robbed rating on the callaway pm grime matt daddy wedge yeah we're gonna do some more wedge testing stay tuned as always subscribe to the channel check rob out on all of his social media networks.
