Review time we've got the cleveland rtx 508 2.0 wedges which have been i know me and pete have had a lot of questions about these clubs with the new wheel coming down here to cleveland tricks and say at the grove london beautiful day terrible in it terrible life that we're living at the moment shocking it's awful and we've got some wedges to review um i'm sure you've seen pete on my channel before if you've not gone check him out on his channel he's done loads of videos down here today.

As of eye of the new uh shreks. And golf clubs and the new cleveland wedges um cleveland wedge is first hand there's two new wedges that have come out we've got the uh let's say the rtx 5 double a in the blade format. And also in the cavity band yeah. So shooting both typo wow if we don't wow just it's not what you want to hear on your new wedge that i see so you've got you had the bladed version for the kind of more confident the better kind of ball strikes around the green and then.

The cavity back just if you want a little bit more kind of help so we've uh we've got the bladed version because we're feeling bright we've got the bladed ones it comes in three different bounce angles and that's represented on the bottom of the golf club where the loft is is actually the 1.2.03 dot one being low bounce two being standard bounce. And three being high bounce subjective to actual loft so some of the extreme loft angles so you know you're 46 degrees and you're 62 degrees don't have all options but the middle range your normal 56 has all three options comes in satin and the black pearl which isn't out till next.

Year no no it's the tour setting which is out at the moment. But it's still still going to prefer shiny done it before now. And kind of as i was going through it i was like why have i not done this before it seems. So what they worked on down here with us today.

And you'll see some clips just up on screen here now we went through um gapping of the wedges about the type of terrain that we play on so whether it's hard ground soft ground that has a massive influence on the bounce angle that you should be using um and then.

What we want from a wedge so the current wedges that we're using i'm using score where did you use cleveland wedges i did that i used the 588 the first the first version there. So i was really looking forward to seeing the difference because they're two years old now yeah a couple years old now as well yeah. So what need for some new ones anyway so what is new about these is the that's nice very nice what is new about these wedges is the grooves. And the face cleveland are saying now these are the most grippiest face would that be a good description yeah bye-bye the grooves. And by the roughness roughness that was the roughness of the face it's the roughest the roughest face golf club it's a bad boy it's a bad boy of wedges. So it's got it's laser milled it's machine milled and then.

It's obviously grooved as well so those three different layers um give it the face and the apparel that it does now on on looking at it it does look groovier it does look groovy these are the rotex 2.0 wedges rotex i believe is the actual milling. And the machine that they use for that and when you look down at it they do look fantastic. And certainly new wedges are anyway spin ridiculous very very classic looking. So this is the normal version of this there is a cavity back version which i'm throwing on screen. For you now as well um that is more designed. For the golfer who wants a bit more uh forgiveness in a wedge so certainly if you're if you don't feel as confident with your chipping it'd be stupid to go with a blade club a bit like a normal iron shot if you're not a confident iron shutter don't go for the bladed version go for the cavity back i mean the wedges they were saying you used. And they were kind of designed working in very very close kind of conjunction with the tour pro. So what they like to see so the bladed wedges are pretty much a combination of the engineers graham mcdowell uh matsuyama all the kind of tour pros smashing the reds together. And coming up with what they want from a wedge and then.

The cavity back version is the similarities yeah it's a similar design just with a bit more on the bottom of it just to try. And kind of help you get up in the air to be a bit more a bit more forgiving as well so it was it's all very very interesting stuff there is. And i think what was the big thing from it what the the the general consensus between all of the engineers. And the players etc and and you and me the amateurs of this world was versatility making a wedge that was versatile oh hit the flag lift out did you not get the bike a wedge that's versatile in many characteristics. And that's what we found we're gonna do some tests now we're gonna do some challenges uh we're gonna alternate channels. So whoever wins the channel gets to host the video is that a good plan okay that sounds fine we're gonna do some chipping we'll do some bunker challenges. And then.

We'll have a deciders we'll do best of three okay. So we're not i don't we don't know what channel the next.

Video is going to be on. So you've got to subscribe to both basically so cleveland uh the rtx 588 2.0 wedges we've really enjoyed hitting them today.

The fitting criteria of them is is very very interesting. And well worth doing if you're very if you if you're serious about that short game side of things which you all should be so don't just go and buy whatever bounce and whatever loft because that's what they had in the store get properly fitted so you've got the correct bounce angle for you as a golfer and your course conditions that you play on the most common um challenge time.
