[music] hi guys it's rick shields pga golf professional and this is the complete driver guide this is part number five the finale. So far we've covered overview the difference between irons and driver shots we've also talked about set up backswing downswing and impact and now we're going to talk about the follow through all of those other videos click the link up there in the corner. And you can watch them all get fully up to speed hopefully you've already done that. So follow through plays an integral part to the success of the shot still and this is where a lot of players will think i've hit it that's it done i'd have to do anything else we have to think a little bit more about the follow-through not only to keep maximizing our distance. But also to swing within balance and actually get the direction we're looking for a little bit as well so i won't go through all the setup and backswing and downstream because that's all in separate videos you can go. And watch those on my channel what i'm going to talk about now is the idea as we're coming down to hit the golf shot. And we've started to rope rotate and coil and hit up on the golf ball and sweep in that teepeg i think it's really important to make sure the arms continue to stretch. And work around the body as we start to then.
Eventually transfer the weight around to this left-hand side i'll do that again. So as we get to the downswing and we're coming into the shot i've encouraged it to stay slightly behind the golf ball with driver then.
We're going to look at continuing to rotate the hips through stretching the arms out. And allowing that golf club to start working around the body notice how it's kind of working around it's not going straight upwards it's starting to work on the same rounded components than our backswing really did look at working on as well. So the backswing we wanted to work that club around the body same applies on the way through we're not trying to swing at target we're trying to swing hit the golf ball with a straight face and allow the curvature of that golf swing to get it moving more over the left shoulder the advantage of this as well going around the body is it's going to allow us to start squaring the club face up a little bit through the shot we don't want to keep that club face upwards pointing up to the sky because that's a more open club face position as we start to swing through. And stretch that right arm and allow that golf club to swing more around the body that is also in turn allowing that club face to square up through the shot that's going to help us enormously with our direction as well let me let me hit that. And then.
I'm going to talk a little bit more about the finale finale section of it. So what i'm doing here is i'm stretching through i'm working that golf club more around the body. And eventually i'm going to finish on my follow through position on my left hand side which we'll talk about in a moment's time just notice how the swing moved more around the body once i'd actually hit the shot it didn't continue going straight to target now the last moment in this is we've all always talked. So far in the complete driver guide about staying behind the golf ball hitting up into the golf ball and that's very true i still really keep encouraging to do that. But as we hit through the shot and start to rotate our hip around there becomes a point where you start to move more weight onto your left side than is on your right foot. And that's where we're allowing ourselves to peel this right heel off the floor as we rotate around to actually finish much more around the left side with full body rotation and complete balance so important aspects of it so as i hit through this shot and you see this with the best players in the world they create tremendous amounts of power but they're always incredibly balanced after they hit the golf shot so as i swing through this i'm staying behind the golf ball i'm hitting hitting up into the back of the ball but just notice there in the finish how i've got that massive rotation around and i could stand here for a decent amount of time not forever for a decent amount of time i've really rotated through i've moved my weight more onto my left outside of my left foot but i've maintained balance as i've still created loads of power it's what you really see the best players in the world to do they create power. And they always maintain their balance so a recap on that as we hit through the shot and we're staying behind it we continue the body rotation we extend the arms through the golf shot not subtracting them back inwards we extend and we start to work the golf club more around the body which also lends itself to squaring that face through and then.
We finish with balance more on our left side and we actually rotate all the way through guys thanks for watching that is the complete golf swing guide.
