All right guys welcome back to a brand new episode of break 75 today.
I'm excited about without further ado let's jump over there break 75 at one of my favorite ever golf courses [Music]. So here we are one of my favorite places hillside golf club it's stunning this place. And off the tees we're playing off today.
It's about 6900 yards past 72. the young man i'm playing with today.
I first was introduced to him when he was a 12 year old lad he came to see me. For golf lessons a little whipper snapper spencer he's not small anymore he's actually probably taller than me and he's not so much of a rookie anymore he actually now plays off one handicap here at hillside so me as a pro student versus teacher let's have a little challenge 18 holes can i beat him that's my target today.
Obviously i want to break 75. But can i beat spencer let's find out [Music] all right spencer student versus teacher remember when you were 12 year old. And you came to see me and i taught you everything everything you know to get down to one handicap on a day like this what are you looking to shoot i probably want to play to my handicap today.
So that's what i'm going to try. And beat i want to beat your score today.
All right either way play your best enjoy it. And let battle commence [Music] let's hope um this isn't a sign of things to come first tee shot i found one of these fairway ball because these pop bunkers i played a good t shot as well but blitzed it through the wind i might still be able to play aggressive i'm just far enough back to be able to go with the green i think oh my god should go home thanks. Week not the starter wide i'm not going to lie to you uh it's never great when your first port is a 30-foot double bogey is it [Music]. So uh not start rewarded i kind of felt like that should have gone differently but what's weird i didn't i didn't three over three one big comeback 17 hours to go nailed it i must admit i questioned his iron shot off the tee there but i shouldn't have done because spencer's member here eric driver and guess what we found another fairway bunker everybody i'm going to have to just hit a lob wedge out because it's much closer to the bank it's almost taking any questions out i have to just put it back on the fairway hopefully should have done that on the first i reckon [Music] yes playing good the boy he's playing good he's currently five ahead it's kind of win-win you know if i come back. And beat him the story of the century if not i gave him his first lesson like look what he's look what he's become a player proper player well done [Music] [Music] i taught you everything everything you know [Music] pushed it whoa [Music] birdie sauce all round nice to get one [Music] what [Music] right over the flag [Music] what the hell that stalled that's so mental [Music] there she is she's back [Music] this is what's clever with link's designed golf courses look how like the mouth of the bunker all comes down. And like gathers it into the bunker you only have to be a little bit off and you will find the sand that's worked [Music]. So currently now three over i made triple on the first couple of birdies couple of bogeys three over spencer you are one under one on the grouse doing well well anyway that's that's not the important thing it's now food review time hillside sausage roll is it weird to have ketchup on it i think that's quite weird is it yeah i wouldn't have ketchup we have a little bit of ketchup on it no i'll taste it nude first piping hot lovely glaze nice finish i'm going to give that an 8.6 that was very nice indeed now the front nine round here is good. And in fact it's got better the changes that made him in class but the back nine is something else. And as you can just see it started to get windier it's going to be tough it's going to be a battle. But this batman is stunning starting off with this whole 10th hole par 3 slightly up the hill um i've got to shoot one on the back nine to break 75. let's get it let's do it ah missed one of them at least once around as i mentioned i remember spencer being this big 12 year old not hitting it very far now he's six foot 16 years old. And he's actually outdriven me i'm feeling old feeling old i'm feeling tired i'm feeling a little bit lazy when the oh the little whippersnappers knocked it past me look at this spencer you've knocked it past me i know bigger forget oh it's good on the green thanks oh yeah nice shot very nice well done pal [Music] now at the moment i'm making it hard to break 75 today.
Out. But let's switch roles when we go back into coach rick mode spencer is playing phenomenal golf he's currently one on the par you've got this to go two on the bar i'm going to encourage him on it's more expensive can you break par that's the new goal [Music] yes two under fives fine good well done foul cheers well it's good golf ring learned it all from me what can i say oh really topped it honestly that's perfect [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] now in this hole we both hit good drives now on the angle i'm just going to make it clear because it's a dog leg left spencer has comfortably knocked you past me again oh god i remember when i was a 16 year old kid knocking it past the old man merrick spencer's turn right 130 hours of the flag back into wind [Music]. So unlucky [Music] can't get one [Music] [Music] i'm already going the hole [Music] okay 17th hole par 5. it's cut all the way up hill now towards the green. And very very steep bank at the front i'm exactly well i'm 250 playing 253 to the middle and 230 odd to the front of the green now this three iron i've put in the bag recently is exactly how far i was carrying on the range yesterday it's bit down winds i've just got i've just got to commit to this to break 75 i've got to go eagle birdie gotta do the eagle bit first miss everything miss everything oh what a shot oh i've just hit my sunday best on the last hole here i'm here just in the rough look how fast spencer's down need to get in the gym that's an awesome tee shot [Music] um you're one over now yeah one over here you played awesome honestly really class golf oh all right guys 77 5 over um some good shots. But when you have start with the triple bogey it's always going to be hard awesome playing with spencer we played class. And we'll see you next.
