I never liked taylormade putters growing up as a kid playing golf taylormade's putters always felt like an afterthought taylormade were renowned. For the drivers and the ryans but never for the putters until recent years taylormade now are a serious putting brand [Music] [Applause] hi guys it's rick shields pj golf professional. And today.

I'm going to be reviewing a brand new taylormade putter if you're new to my channel welcome hit that subscribe button hit the like button if you enjoyed this video. And share this video around okay. So the spider x they've redesigned the shape now in its simplest term the spider is designed. For forgiveness there's more weight at the back of the putter more weight toward the toe and the heel and normally when they first brought out the spider they had two big massive chunky weights at the back which for a lot of people it wasn't as pleasing to the eye or they've streamlined that they've now reinvented the back of this putter with too much smaller weights but still doing the same job in addition to redesign weights at the back they've also redesigned the top of the golf club this is now an alignment system that makes things a little bit simpler true path alignment system. And i really like it as much as this putter is quite complicated the top of the putter makes things a little bit more simplistic they've also introduced a little bit more reinforcement through the body of the putter therefore. off-centered hits are supposed to twist the face less which is very interesting priced on this putter 299 pounds. Or 349 dollars so it is definitely on the expensive side as a lot of premium putters are these days it comes in this copper finish. And it comes in a navy finish apparently though there's going to be a custom fit availability where you can actually almost change the color completely. And that and even change the alignment on the top which will be really interesting to see by the copper i like the design of this putter i think it looks very modern it's got a very much more sleek compact look about it compared to spiders in the past because spiders in the past have looked a little bit complicated i love the black shaft i love the fact it comes now stock with a super stroke grip which actually just feels a little bit more premium than super strokes i've felt even in the past. And it's a good looking putter [Music] so i tested it i was on the golf course testing this putter. And really getting it through its paces short puts long putts to get the feel the sensations and see if i can hold more puts [Music]. And i'm happy to report i enjoyed putting this putter i felt like that alignment on top of the putter was super simple to get the ball lined up to the hole i felt that the feel off this pure roll face was very soft it had response to it as well [Music] off centered hits i didn't feel much of a difference compared to putters i've tested in the past. But spider does have a good kind of stability through the head i feel like it's a very stable putter. So our scented hits don't get punished maybe as much but it's not if you're gonna miss the middle you're not gonna hold as many putts quite simply as it as it would be [Music] [Music] [Music] so as you can see i did like the putter i even like the head cover i think the head cover is super premium it's got that real soft kind of touch to it my critique i think in white it's dangerous that is not going to stay that perfect white. For a long time that's going to get really damaged. And look very scrappy very quickly be good if that came in a different colour option as well barring that white head cover and the expensive price that's the only real negatives with the spyder x butter so it goes back to that kind of question taylormade now of are a serious potter brand you know 10 years the spider's been out multiple tour wins major victories. And it it's crazy because like i said growing up i never saw taylormade as being a important putter company it was always really an afterthought your pings your odyssey certainly scotty cameron's were always the real desirable putters. But this day and age taylormade are not only making you know great woods great irons a new great ball. And now great putters this kind of seemed to be branching out in many more different avenues and this spider doesn't disappoint it's got a lot of great elements to it i think you're either going to be a adventurous golfer who wants to try something a little bit of a different shape. And therefore. the spider might suit your eye or you're more traditional you want the blade and therefore. any off-centered hitch you're going to get more punishment typically anyway i think it's a good line of putters it's obviously had tremendous success it's been around. For a long time now and it's interesting to see that they've managed to make it look sleeker and more modern than previous models rewinding time back as i was a junior golfer growing up if this was around this would be definitely high on my wish list taylormade was never seen as a putter company. But now it really is that was my review of the spider x putter thanks. For watching guys if you enjoyed the video smash that like button leave me a comment down below and would you use the spider x are you a little bit more of a traditional blade putter thanks.
