All right guys before lockdown i got sent a lot of boxes full of golf clubs ready to review and test but i didn't get a chance to open them so i thought why not in this video open all of the boxes i've not opened yet show you what's inside and give them a hit here in the home simulator so these are interesting look at this bad boy look at this iron oh my goodness me that is such an interesting little club with the size of that head this is going to come out like a rocket ship wowzers i cannot hit golf shots with that this could be anything literally anything. And that is at the end of the driving range. So here we go these are all the boxes all from different brands boxes that i've not opened before. And we've got taylormade callaway shrixen wilson honma they're all in here so let's open some up i'm going to start off with this one this is this is from callaway. So i'm going to open it up see what's inside. And then.
Give it a hit on gc quad what have we got in box number one i think i can possibly guess actually it's irons oh yeah it's these callaway maverick pro irons right let me find out how many i've got of each ones as in maverick pro. And standard maverick let's get them out and give them a whack so in box number one we have some of these callaway maverick pro irons to match up with the maverick drivers this year i'm going to whack some away with the seven iron i'm imagining these might go quite a fair distance they're quite a chunky iron nice looking eyes to be fair let's give them a whack. And see how they feel shanked [Laughter] um well there you go first shot first shot straight out the box and i actually shanked it well there you go everybody let's try and hit a slightly better one oh that's a lot better there's much more on the face oh these are long wow that's a seven iron carrying nearly 180 it feels powerful when i struck that in the middle on the club face it definitely felt powerful let's give another one that's a nice shot. But way too long wow they are long hitting callaway maverick pro sorry about the first shot there buddy okay next.
Box this from cobra uh again i think i know what these might be they might have even been open before oh yeah i know what these are right. So in here we've got two sets actually we've got the cobra king s z the speed zone irons it looks like i've got them in normal length and one length let's get the five iron out of each actually i'm gonna hit the five of these two because that's uh obviously the lens will be different okay normal length five iron i've gone back to 200 yards on this green i feel like these are going to come out fast wowzers these clubs are strong. So far the callaway and the cobra i've tested are strong lofted one thing as well i just want to show you on here look at the top here there's just a little bit of carbon on the top i think what they've done there is save the weight. And then.
Suck it back down at the bottom i've never seen that on a golf club before it's really interesting [Music] that's nice yeah feels strong don't particularly feel soft i'm not getting a great feel off the club with those now one length been around. For a number of years now as you can see there the one length five iron is about an inch. Or so shorter than the five iron standard this five iron is the same length as a seven iron simple as i've always struggled with these irons i always find that one length long irons don't go up in the air enough they go a little bit too flat flighted let's see what this [Music] it's a does bit lower flighted. But not bad overall good irons i think they're gonna offer a lot of forgiveness they don't feel great. And if i'm honest they don't look great they're a little bit boxy behind the ball that's the cobra speed zone irons let's move on to the next.
Okay next.
Box i'm gonna go with this one actually trixon cleveland zexio let's see what's inside this tested a bit of cleveland in the past not loads no these are interesting what we got here oh my goodness right this is are these wedges god they are they're actually wedges right there's three of them they're these smart soul wedges oh they are funny looking things right let me show you those look at that hollow that is a massive hollow at the back. So i've got this in a gap wedge a sand wedge and then.
This little beauty maybe maybe this is exactly what i need a little chipper right let's give him a hit i'm gonna go gap wedge first these are really interesting looking wedges oh they feel strange they've got like a a really hollow feel about him it's a nice looking wedge behind the ball i thought it was going to be a bit a bit ugly. But it really isn't behind the ball it's a good looking wedge that's not bad smart soul oh give me a bit of that please that's nice [Music] go in okay i like that a lot that feels good that didn't that's come as a big surprise one i didn't massively know what was in that box uh that design of the wedge is better than i expected i like that chipper maybe this is definitely a club i need a bag my chipping's been shocking as of late oh this is a tiny little it's like a putter that is such an interesting little club right uh i'll just play a little 10-yard chip that's all right landed at 10 yards landed at nine yards what happens if i hit a full shot with it full shot with a chipper it's probably more like an eight-time loft yeah it's got about 140. that's good i'll tell you what impressed with those wedges i like those okay next.
One's up i'm going to open this that is a wilson staff logo we've got oh these look very interesting maybe these brands are trying to tell me something at the moment with these clubs that they're sending me we've got this iron which is the launchpad iron now funny enough launchpad is actually a name that came from the uh the driver versus driver 2 show that i was involved in when i was a judge on the show. And launchpad was actually one of the drivers um it sounds like they've taken ownership of the of the name look at this iron oh my goodness me wilson launch pad look at that head massive hollow head design it looks more like a hybrid than it does an iron got to be all about ultimate forgiveness oh my goodness mate i've not seen line like this before right let's go let's go launch pad 7 iron see how it does right i'm going to put the flag out at 180. i've just got a funny feeling with the size of that head this is going to come out like a rocket ship let's see what the launch pad can do this is ultimate forgiveness iron oh my that sounded like a rocket look at that goal shot 180 yards launch iron launch pad 7 iron it gives me the idea that i'm going to smash this up into space. And it sounds ridiculous that's that is such a loud sounding iron. But i cannot complain with those two shots at all i'm gonna go one more with the wilson launch pad irons well i'm gonna give you my review as that ball lands on the green and that's three out of three three with the launch pad from 180 forgiveness forgiveness forgiveness you don't get a lot of feel you don't particularly get a lot of feedback but what i feel like you do get an awful lot of is forgiveness. And reassurance that it's going to help you get the ball up in the air that's the wilson launch pad right next.
Box okay we've got a few left um i'm gonna save that one i'm not gonna go taylormade just. Yet off we got the front here oh hon oh this could be anything literally anything it could be a could be gold-plated 10 000 pound irons i've never tested let's let's find out and see let's see what's inside here uh what are these okay these are the honda xp-1 irons these are the islands to accompany the driver that i tested at the start of the year let me find the seven iron. So here we go this is the honda seven iron xp one hundred really trying to crack into america europe with the products is this the one that's gonna do it. For them it's a lovely looking iron lovely and shiny very nice design right let's give this a hit it looks like it's slightly hollowed out i'm expecting a bit of distance the xp1 driver test is all about forgiveness let's see if this is the same nice looking iron behind the ball the one thing i've noticed straight away is how skinny that grip is it i don't like that compared to some of the other products i've tested like the cobra always have quite chunky grips this feels super super skinny right let's give this here xp one [Music] not my best. But it still found the green spot too soon it landed on the green and moved off it [Music] [Music] okay i've hit a few shots there with the honma xp1 uh okay not blowing me away it's quite a nice feel it's definitely got a little bit of forgiveness in there it's quite nice looking. But doesn't particularly stand out against any other irons i've tested honma xp1 iron right let's see what else there is right next.
Ones trixon cleveland we've already done one box from those guys this is a big box what's in this because this is uh this is definitely the biggest box out of all of them oh wow what have we not got right drivers drivers fairway woods oh wow how am i gonna hit all this irons okay let me choose i'm gonna choose an iron. And the driver and we'll give these a hit okay. So i've picked out these to test exeo forged iron seven iron good looking iron i've also gonna hit this i didn't expect a driver to be in that box to be fair i've got this the zexio driver and then.
Randomly i've got some cleveland full face wedges in there as well 58 degrees full face grooves i'm going to hit wedge 7 then.
Driver okay wedge first now full faced grooves aren't new we've seen callaway doom taylor made do them. And now obviously cleveland are jumping on it as well i like the idea because it definitely breeds confidence in a golfer when they can see all the grooves on the face. And cleveland let's be honest have pretty much been the masters in wedge design for a long long time it looks like after testing those little chippers and wedges before maybe maybe they're coming back with a bit of a charge this is the cbx full face wedge 58 degrees let's uh i'm just gonna move the flag to 90 yards okay move the flag to 75 yards actually i'm gonna play a little three quarter one in there open the face a tiny bit nice control eric [Laughter] lovely control the wedge felt good though you actually see a little bit of a ball mark there right in the middle of the face okay. So i need to take a bit more off that i came out a bit strong there [Music] the wedges feel great my control is definitely lacking a little bit too much time in here hitting longer clubs right let's move back to this now this is the zexio. So if you didn't know zexio shrixen and cleveland they're all the same brand basically i don't know which one the the parent brand is i think it might be shrixen. But they all kind of come out the same place now this is zexio forged iron looks pretty nice it's got a little bit of a chunky neck which you uh you don't see that much with player irons you see a little bit of a slender neck a bit pulley felt good off the face though [Music] um okay again nothing nothing massively uh stands out. For me there they're not the best feeling irons i don't feel like they offer loads of forgiveness and they're not particularly the best looking and not got a lot going from them look at this bad boy this is a good looking driver says on the bottom of it on the bottom of it experience the difference let's give this a let's give this a hit see what it does like logo on the top the little metallic logo oh my goodness that is light ah a 47 gram shaft oh wow okay i want to warn you i don't know what's going to happen here okay let's see what happens zexio driver with that light shaft oh oh no i cannot hit golf shots with that feels like a piece of spaghetti the the shaft feels like. For me swinging it feels very very uh hard to control let's not rule out yet let's say a few more that is. So different to what i'm used to [Music] oh i could not play this golf club not in this setup it's a shame because i actually quite like the look of the head it's the fact that just the weight feels so different no it's going. So far left [Laughter] it doesn't matter how much this thing costs i cannot hit this driver in that shaft and it's glued so i have no other option to put a different shaft in it no way not. For me sexio driver not for me let's go two more boxes to go oh that's not driver let's go this one first now this is again looks like it's from wilson let's see what's in here the d sevens oh these look nice right let me find the seven iron let's hit the d7s. So here we go wilson d7 what a good looking iron that is however. when i was getting this club out the packaging i noticed one thing what are those these slots on the bottom of the head i mean you can you don't probably well you won't see them when you set up to the ball. And i think designed. For more ball speed but they are they're ugly right let's give this a hit d7 that is a really good looking item from behind the ball that is gorgeous very again very much reminds me of wilson wilson irons i've used in the past oh nice that's a beauty that flag's at 180. And that has come out strong a lot of these clubs are stronger than the clubs that i generally use the loss will be a bit more cranked that felt fantastic not a bad mishit still going to catch a bit of the green you know what i've had a few sets of wilson irons in the bag before. And honestly the fours line up wilson are hard to beat in the field department they feel phenomenal they feel just like the v6. And the staff model irons i've used in the past the only thing that i think is going to put me off. And a lot of other people those kind of power slots on the bottom as much as you don't see them those in your golf bag they just don't particularly look that great i understand why they've done them i think they should have just covered them up something that could have really pleased the mass market i think those power holes will stop from eight iron down to pitching wedge i think it's only from seven nine up to three iron let's say great feeling irons i like them a lot wilson d7s okay. So here we go last box last unopened box i might have to do another series of this i enjoyed it let's see what is inside i think i can possibly guess. But let's see we have got oh yeah the sim max irons taylormade syn max let's find out what i've got in here. And then.
Hit a few so here we go taylormade simmax os and taylormade sim max but let's give these a smash okay let's go max first now i'll be honest a lot of people asked me to review the taylormade sim irons. And tailor-made m5 irons m6 irons in the past the only thing that i find me with these irons is that they don't massively change that much year on year they're just changing the name in my opinion from this kind of sim lineup i think taylormade makes some great irons in all the lineups. But when they just make it a set of irons to match the driver i always think that they'll lose a bit of the i don't know the design. But a lot's got into this to be fair it looks like it's got a lot of a lot of features and benefits as you would expect from taylormade i've not checked the loft on them and the flag is there at 180. But i think this iron is still going to be going up up in the air at 180. let's find out [Music] it's not a bad shot it's a little bit left yeah. So it's comfortably 180 i think it was 185 carry [Music]. So unbelievably powerful 190 carry with the seven iron i mean who needs that does anybody out there need that much carry i bet a lot of people are like yeah i do i could do with 190 carry with a seven iron uh that was 192 carry with the seven iron.
