A couple of years ago i tested a golf ball that promised to fly straight and you know what it absolutely worked but there was a downside it was illegal. So you couldn't use it in competition play but everybody wants to hit the ball straighter right well today.

I might have found a golf ball that does just that. And it's legal and guess what it also doesn't cost the world so i went shopping on amazon and i bought two dozen golf balls for 65 pounds so 32 pounds 50 per dozen not even opened this packaging yet now the good news is from a brand that used to be unbelievably popular with making golf balls like in the early 2000s i think i even used this brand quite heavily when we played golf as a junior i've not seen them. For many years until now look at this so max fly is the brand straight fly is the model now this is crazy. And i'm interested to try this out these golf balls promise to fly 20 straighter there's a little bit of illustration there in the back of the box now interestingly just even seeing the boxing obviously this is the first time i've seen it it looks like it's quite a similar idea to that illegal golf ball tested a couple years ago where some of the dimples are bigger some of them are smaller. So it basically self corrects itself in flight the one thing i did find that golf ball a couple years ago yes it did fly straight. But it didn't fly a long way and it was kind of quite a low flight. So i wonder if i see the same with this either way we're on the golf course we're going to test them out initial looks they look good coincidentally they're in a green box like those are the straight flight golf balls oh yeah it is it's just like that there's deeper bigger dimples on certain parts of the golf ball mixed with some much smaller dimples. And that's how aerodynamically it's supposed to fly straighter the other thing i want to check as well because with the other straight flight golf ball annoyingly you had to like line it up on the tee which was great when you could obviously hit it off a tee. But once it was out in the open play you couldn't then.

Adjust it i'm not seeing anywhere on here you don't have to line it up. So that's a big benefit to this golf ball right you know what i'm not going to go easy on this golf ball i'm on the 13th hole of par 5. it's cold i've not hit a single shot. Yet i want to see if it works straight out the blocks now it says 20 straighter so in theory if i if it massively sliced or massively hooked it should be less but i'd like to think also should be able to go straight down the middle of the fairway a lot straight out the gate is i couldn't i could obviously i'm not gonna get too excited on one shot i couldn't have drawn that straighter that is as straight as a golf shot can go promising start now as i mentioned i'm not going to get too excited because i have been known once in a while to hit a straight shot that could have absolutely been all down to me okay good news my opening tee shot is in the middle of the fairway which i expected the bad news i don't know if it's whether it's the weather conditions. Or whether it's bit cold or damp it's not going very far it might even be the case i'm just a bit of a weasel. But either way i think a true test will come a bit later on second shot three wood i don't think i'll reach from here. But i do need an accurate t-sh an accurate shot because there's water left bunker's right i need to feed it right down the middle of the fairway here oh it wasn't my best hit it's kind of just pushed straight right no curvature i mean it's not a terrible miss. But it's not dead straight down the middle of the fairway but i must admit i was a poor strike the only defense there it kind of just went straight right it had no curvature on it okay third shot. And says par five i'm 142 yards to the flag so like i said i've got no massive indicator this golf ball is going shorter. Yet so normally with a normal ball i'll probably hit 99 from here so i don't want to go big either so let's go 99 again then.

We can maybe start to get a little bit of a gauge if there's any different distance differences. So in theory as long as i've set up nice and straight we've got a chance of hitting the straight at the flag oh it's pulled ah hold on hold on hold on oh it's gone big that's actually got a little bit over the green tiny bit left and a little bit big so granted that shot definitely had a little bit of curvature on it just a little draw that moved it offline but you know what even on the box it doesn't promise to be a magic golf ball it goes 100 straight just as it goes 20 straighter it's hard to tell because you're never going to hit the exact same golf shot every time. But in theory that could have with a normal golf ball going 20 further left what i'm going to do now spend a little bit of time around this green just doing a little bit of chipping. And putting with it don't really know how this ball feels just yet before we do a little bit more straight testing on the next.

Few holes [Music] okay feel wise they feel like bricks. And i'm not exaggerating that they are really rock-hard golf balls certainly when you're chipping. And putting now to be fair though if they go straight and go our golfers could overlook the feel if it meant they hit more fairways and greens so the big test is going to come with driver because everybody wants to hit driver straighter they want to hit more fairways. But before i get to that the very next.

Hole is one of my favorite par threes i think we've got to have a little go holy one attempt with these straight flight balls flag's at 142 same as last hole five shots. And that is a very good start do it on the first shot do it on the first shot not bad [Music] another nice shot [Music] oh i was pushed a touch again not a lot of curvature still on the green ah leaked it [Music] just just caught the green after that first shot i'm actually getting further away from the hole cut cut cut i'm asking a straight ball to cut i don't think it's gonna do it you know what it's five shots on the green they all flew straight ish with an iron let's try it with the driver i'm aiming basically. For the clubhouse and there's a white triangle in the distance it's dead straight down the middle of the fairway i'm get five shots i'll just be dead frank with you whether i see these golf balls hitting it straight or not now obviously i'm a human don't always hit it straight believe it or not so there might obviously be a little bit of pile of error but i know if i've hit a bad one how far offline i would expect to see it to go so what are these straight fly balls gonna do i've also got my gc quad set up just. So i can see things like ball speed. And spin rate to see if these golf balls still do calculate the right distances to what i'd normally see with the pro v1 i like to try. And carry the ball about 280 yards typically be interesting to see if i get that out of these two [Music] i doubt it's any straighter than that [Music] fact i mean it's hard to call off obviously one shot there it'd be interesting to see these next.

Few go just a straight i just want to remind people this is not a paid advert 279 yards to carry 1700 spin as straight as i've seen a golf ball fly oh it's compared to the last two it looked like it went way offline again hard to measure whether that would be more offline with a normal ball. But it's uh it wasn't straight as the first two [Music] honestly the three that i've hit arrow straight have got to be right next.

To each other there's nothing in it 272 yards of carry again good numbers this is what i think about the golf ball. For me today.

I have hit these golf balls very straight the t-shirts i've hit just here have really impressed me the few holes i've played have really impressed me. But could i categorically say this is a straight flying golf ball well no it's really hard to measure i just might be hitting the golf ball tremendously straight today.

And i think i'm gonna do a follow-up video where i get some amateurs to play with these golf balls. And see if they it works for them guys hit like if you want to see that video hit one more [Music] [Laughter] oh my goodness.
