Down here at traffic gold center in manchester and today.
We're going to be talking about our new scottish open winners justin rose's golf clubs he's gone back-to-back wins. And he's in awesome form going into the open. So it's really exciting as an englishman hits peak going to an english open obviously at high lake. So he's done amazingly well he's been playing some great golf and i'm going to talk about his golf clubs that he's been using at the moment we actually had the opportunity to meet him last week which was only last tuesday uh trump international with the taylormade day. And i've got some got some footage of him hitting some golf shots as well on trackman so we're doing a separate video on that to show you what he's been doing with his driver and he was ripping it i mean really hitting it well. So he's very much tailor-made you know everything in his bag is tailor-made from the driver down to his golf ball um. So we're going to be talking today.
About the kind of equipment he's been using the setup that he's on obviously i've not got the exact specs of shafts because a lot of the shafts that he uses are quite exotic shafts. So i haven't got the perfect shafts but i've got a lot of the technology and talking about what clubs at least is using. So we're going to start with the driver. And the driver that he's using is obviously the taylormade sldr he's using the 430 head which is the same head that i'm actually currently using at the moment. But he's got it in 10.5 degrees of loft so he's a little bit lower loft than what i am but i know when i was when he was talking on last week he was saying that he lofted up to 10.5 obviously this loft up idea club head spins left he's got to get more height. So he locked it up he's got it two clicks closer to fade which when i look down that's pretty much in the middle of the golf club so he's got it two clicks uh away from the little blue indicator on the on the sliding weight at the bottom um he's got it in a matrix ossic shaft which is a pretty fancy shaft he's got it in the the black tie edition which is pretty it's pretty a pretty special shaft obviously i've not really the capabilities of getting hold of one of those shafts today.
But i've got it in my shaft i'm going to give it a couple of hits. And at least look at how the spec of the head is delivering the the factors on gc2 here i'm going to be hitting some real golf balls on here as well. So i think this is potentially going to launch a little bit lower now when i saw him hitting it on tuesday he was carrying it about 295. So he's getting it out there quite a bit let's hit a couple of shots with this anyway so figures wise i think that's just going to launch a tiny bit oh no that's all right it's actually performed pretty well. So it's carried at 284 we've got 1900 spin and it's actually launched at let's have a look what the launch was against 16.2 it's not bad at all really there i'm quite pleased with that i might have to go to 10.5 myself 284 carry's pretty pretty handy i'll take that every day. But when we saw justin hitting it on the last week he was just absolutely crushing out the park i said i've got some trap man figures with that as well. So join me in the next.
Video to talk about that again 274 carry launching a little bit lower than the 17 let's say optimum that we'd normally get uh 2400 spin but like i say i know this golf club this is the golf club i'm currently using i've just changed the spec on this to go a bit lower. And to change the sliding weight but good solid club and certainly one that's been performing for justin incredibly well right then.
We go into a 3-wood so three wood that he's currently using is believe it. Or not the taylormade sldr if you want a guest already now he's got this in 16.5 degrees so a little bit higher than what i would class as being a normal three would um it's a club that what i've tested performed pretty well he's got the same matrix ossic black tie shaft in this as well tie shaft i like to say ball speed and club head speed i mean ball speed he was getting with a driver the other day 170 odd miles per hour. So it's he gets it out there a little bit now what i like about this i've just started to use the sldr s3 within my bag the s is a little bit slimmer than this one. But what i do like about this golf club is that it it's a bit more of a traditional looking head you know when you look down at maybe the trying to think the stage 2 the rbz stage 2. And the r1 they weren't quite as nice looking heads as this is now. So let's give this a bit of a hit as well so i've not got the exact same spec shaft but we can get a bit of an idea on figures anyway. And just seems so easy to off the floor with its low sitting profile it seems to come off really nicely two three two carry i'm happy with that and what i do like about this golf club as well. And i'm sure what what justin has pro has enjoyed about this is that it's very workable. So it can be hit high. And low certainly in the winds at royal aberdeen last weekend i'm sure this this came in handy on a lot of occasions so it can be worked hit higher hit lower a golf club that can be held off the floor off the tee two to eight carry please without again um now going into the irons it's interesting he's got an iron that's currently not not available certainly on the market i've not got one at the moment which is the udi i think he stands. For ultimate distance iron or ultimate something or other iron um it's like a it's like a three iron but it's it's like the cb version they've made it a bit bigger it's like a driving line basically but it's 20 degree one so it's nice and strong uh i'm sure he used that he did use that quite a bit playing around uh like i said it's not on the market yeah hopefully i can get my hands on one soon. And give it a test for you guys but it's a golf club that would just off the massive amount of accuracy certainly off the t and hitting into long power floors or long path fives then.
So he's got that in the three iron it's about 20 degrees then.
He's got the the scary tailor-made irons he's using the taylormade mb tour preferred irons these are the ones that the the real blades you know i tested these uh probably going back at the start of the year now. And they were the ones that i i worried about the most they gave me still nightmares now very very slim line obviously he's a phenomenal tour player. So a golf club is just doesn't worry him at all uh let's have a look at what the shaft was he's got it in a kbsc taper which is similar to one i've got i've just not got it in the same weight as he's got it in he's got a little bit heavier than mine uh one two five. So it's quite a heavy golf club uh lampkin shaft is using. So a different spec shaft again a custom a grip sorry not a shaft grip custom grip right let's give this a couple of hits now i know like say this golf club when hit well it just offers so much um i don't know feel and confidence and it's when you hit it well it's just an unbelievable golf club when you hit it bad it's not so great so i've got seven iron here i would normally carry about seven about one six five getting closer to 170 but with the blade irons you can definitely work the golf ball a lot better i must admit that's probably the best i've ever hit this iron it came off the face. So nice 165 carry distance but just felt absolutely phenomenal i like to say this is a golf club that you couldn't you can work you can fade it you can draw it you can hit it high hit it low again absolutely ideal. For the different golf course conditions that rose had i think rose was actually using the slightly more cavity back version of the longer irons before this event at royal aberdeen i'm sure he's probably going to be staying with the blades now coming into hoi lake um. But yeah just just feel awesome when you hit it well i'll try. And hit a little bit of a low one this time i'm sure he's gonna use this quite a bit certainly going into next.
Week if the wind picks up yeah come out a lot lower didn't hit it quite as good. So we have to tell you one five three so when you don't quite hit it amazing on a golf club like this you do lose distance there's no question about it you do start to lose distance when um when you don't hit it as good you need to flush the scientist it really really well anything off the toe. Or the heel off the bottom of the top will get punished let's hit me one more let's go one more i'm gonna hit a little fade with this one this time again just to highlight how it can be worked oh yeah lovely lovely lovely lovely i'd say not an iron buddy oh i went far 179 nearly 180 not an iron. For a player who's after forgiveness it's definitely one that's after accuracy and kind of performance where you can shape the ball a lot more then.
We go into his wedges he's got the tour preferred atv wedges the bounce of the atv um he's got it in 52 58. And 60 which is a bizarre choice i would say because you know 58. And 60 are pretty close together these are the spec these are the specs that i'm getting off anyway um. So whether he's got 58 maybe bent to a 56 you know we've seen martin keimer do that recently to change the bounce angle that could be a possibility he's just got this in the true temper dynamic gold shaft i've done again i've hit these golf clubs in the past this is the i've got this in the 60 degree uh just lovely feel off the club head the grooves look like teeth when you look down at it the grooves really look like they're going to grip the grip the golf ball. And grab some uh grab some surface with it as well to get that ball spinning back so i go 60 degrees here let's say i'm gonna hit this to 80 yards that felt really nice cuts through the surface so so nicely 82 yards so again it's got lots of control on this golf club as well which is great let's go. For a really kind of high floaty one to about 50 yards this time we're going to open the blade up a little bit high floating once about 50 yards might be a little bit shorter 41. But again it gives that gives it that versatility to different heights of golf shots obviously with wedges now there's not a lot of things that can do with it just to make it feel better. And to make the grooves grip better and then.
Finally the golf ball that he's been using so this is the taylormade tour preferred golf ball it's it's like the pro v1 uh kind of normal um golf ball you know the equivalent to that um. So this is got the black number like the pro v1 of it's of its counterpart it's got the black number as well now this feels like an amazing golf ball when i've hit this again in it i've been using a couple of these recently. And they do fly really nicely if i just pitch one of these out to let's say kind of 20 30 yards just to get the feel. For it and when it comes off the face you can just tell it's that soft feel off the face again it's gone probably about 20 yards. But it just felt fantastic off the face mixed with the grooves of the wedges i'm sure it's going to stop pretty quickly on the firm greens as well the last thing he's got. And i've not got a hold of one of these unfortunately is a prototype putter that he's been using this is one again that's not on the market just. Yet it's a um it's a white smoke a tail made white smoke um and it's like say it's a prototype at the moment so i haven't got my hands on one of those yet hopefully soon and again watch the open guys you'll be able to see which one he's using i'm sure that will will definitely be staying in the bag um. So guys that was my little what's in the bag of what justin rose has been using uh certainly as of that as of last week when he won the scottish open i think his club selections have slightly changed since when he won at congressional. So as he's moved over to link's land he changes clubs ever so slightly and i'm sure the setup that he's using at the moment will be the setup that he goes in to highlight with i'm almost positive of it um. So you can check out his putter when he's using it there guys also check out my next.
Video where we talk about uh justin rose when he was hitting his driver at trump international in scotland i've got some trapman figures of that as well which is the his taylormade 430 sldr um you can see what kind of figures he was getting as well guys if you've enjoyed the video give it a thumbs up uh please just subscribe by clicking the link down below. And i look forward to seeing you all soon the last thing that i think might have might have helped him win as well he was wearing these bad boys he's wearing adidas grip more golf shoes it's easier the adi cross grip more lots. And lots of grip at the bottom i think it's 292 impact points onto the floor. So he's been using these same as martin keimer one with recently as well uh i have done a little unboxing of these shoes before but i've been using them now for about a week and they just feel awesome so i'm sure they helped as well guys thanks for watching give it a thumbs up comment down below and we look forward to seeing you next.
Video we'll talk about some of the trap month figures that justin rose been getting as well thanks for watching guys.
