Right super early start and it's very cold at the moment it's one degrees celsius but that doesn't mean i'm not excited we are on route to one of my favorite golf courses scent. And old links this is episode number two at break 75 really cool guest i'm playing with as well today.
Because he's the head professional at saint anne's old links he's called dan webster been there 29 years we did a podcast with him recently you want to listen to that go. And check out on on the podcast i'll put links down in below like i say beautiful golf course established in 1901 so it's got some real history about it it's definitely a demanding golf course and always in amazing condition anyway we're only like five minutes away excited about this one episode number two of break 75. okay. So we're here centimeter links this really traditional club and this is the course out in front of us here you can actually if you see that in the distance you've got blackpool tower let's see if the golf isn't quite as up. And down as that roller coaster today.
Needs to start strong that's my game plan. So we're off it's early in the morning play off the whites so it's 6 600 yards past 72. got the same setup as last time but i've made two changes i've gotten eight degrees i've gone way more in the toe to stop that ball going left. So that's the winning formula level through one [Music] [Music] wind now this is proper linked golf three holes in. And it's very different it's a parkland golf that i've used at the moment everything's much firmer the ground's much firmer you've got you've got to judge the bounce and very similar to links or very light links you get these pop bunkers as well which me and dana found here on the third he's played that beautifully oh golf shot hey [Music] i have no idea what to do that way [Music] three holes four over [Music] [Music] [Music]. So much into wind like normally i've beaten probably a very easy nine iron it's not a pitching wedge it changes your perception so much by the links golfing wins [Music] i feel like this is a really important one settle the ship cannot get it in the hole [Music] i can't find a break this wasn't a great tea shop. But i've found it in one of these bushes oh ow this is it's a prickly bush oh my goodness why'd you do this to this to yourself oh [Laughter] oh penalty drop. For god's sake wow lynx is tough golf is bloody tough right you have to drop it. For me yeah. So if i get a good lie get down i cannot catch a break i have to play it this way oh my god it's like the wind's going against me as well oh. For goodness sake [Music] oh i give up i literally give up i hit the oh god in the sight what you can't find [Music] welcome to golf one two three four five six seven eight oh yeah yeah yeah [Music] [Music] cannot get it in the hole [Music] uh [Music] [Music] eight. And a half holes um it's tough i might i might be struggling to break 75 today.
I'm just going to put that out there might be sure when to break 85. But hopefully i can settle it get some good scores on the back nine. So at the moment i've got a i've got to go pretty good for the back nine but either way it's one of those things you know certainly links golf the weight set up the wind the conditions my lack of experience in most kind of recent years playing links golf is definitely being highlighted. And it definitely reminds me why i'm not doing open qualifying that's for sure [Music] that's about powers let's go let's get a graphical piece back to that cars [Music] yeah you put it [Music] three pars in a row graphic you've not in. Yet done [Music] [Music] nice [Music] right that is incredibly disappointing after a good drive. But in hindsight i left myself with a yardage i don't really like but i should be better from that range [Music] this is what you've come. For [Music] envision that like like a proper talk i envision this like little little low drawing just like all over the flag and then.
[music] [Music] [Music] oh the par train continues on the back nine it's not been pretty but somehow they keep going in last two holes two par fives yeah two birdies would be nice [Music] stop turning [Music] wow [Music] get that get that birdie sauce coming out [Music] okay last hole i'm here in two. And uh par five so outside eagle opportunity but i will definitely take a two foot from here keep going keep going keep going [Music] save the best till last thanks dad appreciate it good fun i didn't break i didn't break 75 today.
That is the epitome of two halves front nine embarrassingly 48 shots 12 over par yeah. But you know what though you hit the ball well this is weird you hit the ball very solid i just found a few little issue areas. And didn't resolve them bat nine shot 34 so overall 82. um it's one of those rounds where literally i ate it well and just scored horrendously you look like you did change your mindset a bit on the back nine almost as though well that's done that nine's gone let's go again yeah well the front lines go let's go again. And also you did seem to try. And play a bit more how the course would need to be played rather than just playing how you normally play golf so episode number two didn't break 75 was surprise surprise um i think there's two things i learned from today.
One i need to adapt my technique a little bit different courses that's something i overlooked enormously two both rounds. So far episode one episode two i've got some really bad starts front nine over two the two rounds i'm 18 over par back nine i'm two in the par overall so i need to get off better so next.
Round episode three coming next.
Week i endeavor to start much stronger thanks dan the golf course is amazing. And uh episode number two done well done.
