Right we've got a real battle today.
Longest drive competition against the taylormade drivers we've got the taylormade r1 against the new sldr these two are going to go head to head in the longest drive competition on scott on flight scope you're with rick shields down at trafford golf centre in manchester i'm gonna hit five shots with each we're gonna choose the best three. And see which one of these two bad boys are the longest thanks. For all of six months or whatever it's been so let's go real golf balls on a slightly cold windy day in manchester but i'm gonna do it on complete comparisons i've just done a uh slider video where i'm doing loads of flight data on it i'll just leave this down here just to make you aware as well they're both in nine. And a half lofts i've set them both to neutral so all the adjustabilities are completely neutral i can't put the same shaft in each other because the the r11 doesn't fit because it lost the club as well. But the identical length okay this this is as fair a comparison as i can possibly make it they're both in stiff chassis suits my swing right r1 first i'm gonna go five shots choose the best three i think the sliders gotta beat it. Or they sorry not slider sldr not to call it that apparently right let's give it a go yeah not the best start 274 a little bit of a warm shot i probably won't seemed a bit longer that one it's getting up there 287 not a bad hit it's just the average of the three as well average of the best three i'm gonna go with it's going to be a bit less distance might get a bit more run out of that when it was a touch lower no it's a slow it's a low one that sorry about r1 that was a bad one 264 on that one it's a bad shot oh that was nice that's got a chance that's got a chance 287 again it's a similar distance i wanted to hit before identical actually. And then.
One more [Music] taylormade slvr right so i've just done the distances with the taylormade r1 now it's the sldr's turn can it catch up with its older brother the r1 let's see what happens five shots going to choose the best three i'm hitting real golf balls let's see what it can do [Music] seemed like a decent start see what distance it's coming out with in a sec 287 not a bad start very similar to the r1 at the moment it's a bit better i think they've just launched the fraction higher there 290 the r1 starting to worry starting to panic can its new younger brother beat it a little bit right. But i should still get a decent distance out of it maybe not the one that's going to qualify. For the best three yeah 285 on that. So not quite as far two more to go it's not a bad one it's got a chance oh it's less 270. that surprised me i thought i hit that one well but it must have just dropped a little bit out sky right one more let's have a breather for a minute let's get this last one respectable so it can uh we can get a fair result it's not a bad one that's got a chance not as far 279 that surprises me. So if we look at the results now and see what what's happening [Music] this is going to be very very very close. So the results are in. And it's an incredibly close result really is the taylormade r1 went first. So let's have a look at those results first i've taken out the worst two and kept the best three and the average distance total distance was 289 yards. So not a bad hit i'd say this is all subjective to today.
I have hit this club before. And it was going over 300 yards. But that all down to today's conditions you ready for the sldr's results so that was 289. And the sldr was 288 just one yard in it. So is it worth another 329 well it's not worth because you lose a yard. But is it kind of are these clubs going any longer. Or are they just churning out these clubs to make it. For us to buy them really i mean there's no difference in distances they both are just just as similar to each other um personally i probably prefer the sldr today.
It felt like a little bit more consistent to its ball flight um. But yeah they are still pretty awesome golf clubs i just don't think that they need to bring the new one out every other month.
