Hi guys my name is rick shields down here at traffic gold center in manchester. And i want to do a new head-to-head video a cobra fly z plus driver against the mizuno jpx 850 driver now the reason why i want to do this head to head is because i've just been sent these new golf clubs in shaft that will actually suit my swing better. So the guys from both from cobra and mizuno noticed the videos that i did the shafts weren't quite suiting me. So they've sent them out and slightly different shafts so what better way of doing it both low spin option heads let's see what they do with the new shafts with the new setups let's see actually how they perform let's start with the jpx 850 first mizuno i've got the ports the weight in the side sections that's the lowest spinning section in the sides. And even better still it's the most forgiving because you're putting the weights further forward and to the side of the head there's less twist i've got this set at 10 and a half degrees because that's the option that you can give me now the shaft that they've sent at me is in the speeder motor stiff flex tall specs diff flex okay. So they say this is this is the one i'm going to test that first. And i'm going to put it up against the new cobra fly z plus where it's got the flip. And rip it weight technology i've got the gold weight iron man weight in the front of the head again the lowest spin setting now the only thing is i can't sink the lofts perfectly because there is no 10. And a half degree option on this so i've got it in 10 degrees there's half a degree difference i doubt that's going to make a big difference at all now shaft that cobra have sent it to me is in their stock matrix shaft it's the vl ct shaft in extra stiff. So they've sent me an extra stiff one and mizuno went with the stiff they're looking at swing speeds they're looking at the numbers that i produce on the launch monitor as well so let's start off with the mizuno so i'm gonna put the cobra down for a minute i'm gonna hit five or six shots only at five shots using the gc2 launch monitor then.
We'll have hit five with the cobra and then.
We'll come back and have a look at what figures are actually producing. So club head lovely shape lovely size uh i like the shape of it the color particulate the units preference um it doesn't offend me i just think it'd be nice if it had more options on color. But let's let's give this a whack let's give this a hit so i've not i've not really hit this in this shaft just yet that is a really nice flight lovely flight a little bit lower than what i expected obviously it's 10 degrees 10. And a half degrees with the weights in the front though it does give a low flight as well right i'm gonna hit four more then.
We'll have a look at the averages. And compare it to the cobra very nice there's the five you know what felt better than the club that i hit first time with the mizuno this shaft feels much better for me i feel like i can hit it harder i feel like i've got more control of it. And with that low the weights all the way to the front ports the side ports there's a definite loaf ball flight i don't know whether that loft would probably be needing to increase there we'll have a look at the figures in a moment let's jump onto the cobra next.
And let's hit five with that and then.
We can compare. And contrast and as they're being tested on the same day we're going to get the best kind of comparison as best as we can really dad. So cobra driver this is i've got the black head the pro the fly z plus is the smaller option. But with that flippable weight gives you the mobility to change it from front to back weight central gravity position lower spin higher spin and the loft as well i said this is in 10 degrees of loft in the lower setting a lower spinning setting with this time which is extra stiff shaft again it's the ones that cobra have sent me to see if this will actually get me to golf club better the white line will appear on screen. And then.
We'll have a look at it compared to mizuno what a flight very nice right we need four more and we'll see how it actually stands up against the mizuno club there's the five of the cobra i don't think i've hit that last one incredible it's okay it's not produced too bad of numbers right let's throw them up on screen. And actually have a look at the average data that we're getting from the two clubs the mizuno jpx 850 and the cobrafly z plus and let's actually see what the difference is between the two now at this stage okay. So let's have a look along the columns so we start off with the jpx 850 up at the top five rows um things that would generally look at club head speed comparison to the cobra just below it identical it's no difference in club speed just on that 110 miles per hour which is about where i sit i am warm as well i've hit golf balls already this morning. So i'm i'm ready and raring to go ball speed no difference 158 miles per hour now i've not got the reflective dots on the face the smash flats has come out as pretty much neutral every time because it's not picking up the clever speed absolutely perfectly. But it's got a good idea of what it could be launch angle with the mizuno because the weights are in the front all the way in the front the launch angle out was only 14.2 degrees even though it's got more loft. So that forward weight position where the ports are on the side channels is a lowest ball flight lowest spin lowest ball flight they produce. So i think more loft is potentially needed in the mizuno in that setting go across the columns now. For the spin total spin with the mizuno it was coming out at 200 to 200 we wish 2447 on average the highest spinning one was 2009. And the lowest spinning one was 1700 notice on the one that was 1700 shot number four i went the furthest that went the furthest by a mile it was the highest launch. And the lowest spin and it went the furthest 306 yards of total distance so when the ingredients are correct with this when we get the right launch. And the right loft and that spin number is phenomenally good the distance is there without question if we compare it out to the cobra the cobra launched higher even i had less loft the club's design factors made it launch higher. So average at 15.8 that was a big advantage. For the cobra because then.
Mixed in with the spin it went further so the average spin was actually 1800 the highest was 2300 which is really really low anyway the lowest actually came out at nearly 1400. And a couple of dollars kind of felt almost like they were going to fall out the sky too quickly. So again i think more loft is needed in both. But we test it as the most closely matched as we could better because of lower spin lower spin a higher launch and longest one with the cobo was actually 318. And if we look at that that had the best of the best numbers 1900 spin fantastic with a launch angle of 15 and a half degrees fantastic really good numbers for me personally in the extra stiff with the cobra i still feel like i could have hit i could hit that harder and that scene on the actual flights if i just throw the flights back up on screen again if you look at the coat if look at the mizuno one with the stiff flex for me that was turning more left because of that factor with the white one they've turned in the air that last one looks more severe that big draw. But i felt like i could hit the cobra with more confidence harder because it had that slightly extra stiff shafted but these are the ones like i say the manufacturers have sent me to test to see what they do on the gc2. So why not put them head to head both low spin options both have the options also to put them in in a higher spin option so i might do that video again in the future where we do the highest spin options of these we'll see how it goes let us know if you want to see that video. But that was the cobra fly z plus out hitting out spinning felt more confidence here than the mizuno. But when the mizuno factors are correct when it's all in line this does get some great numbers as well guys thanks. So much for watching if you've enjoyed the video give you a bit of an insight of what these clubs can do please do like comment down below let us know what you think have you tested any low spin drivers lost it at the moment have you tried anything i'd love to hear what you think thoughts are i think these ones are definitely that category. For low spin um and when you get the right ingredients the ball does fly guys thanks. For watching we'll see you see you next.
