One of the things that we as golfers hate is losing golf balls. But as we know it's part of the game until now this golf ball the b-ball has a microchip inside it you sync it to your mobile phone and it has a tracking system in so apparently you cannot lose it let's find out if it actually works they weren't cheap the golf balls they were 150 euros. For five golf balls now i am worried about performance of these golf balls it doesn't look like a premium shell it doesn't like a good cover of the golf ball so i've got my doubts i've actually just been on the putting green and hit some putts with it and uh let's say the golf ball felt rock hard it did roll well though. And actually hold some really good puts so that's the positive if this golf ball works this could be a huge game changer whether it's going to be legal. Or not time will tell. But if the technology is there to be able to track your golf balls this could be absolutely massive. For the game of golf so how's it work we need an app from the android store and all you do connect the golf ball via bluetooth to the app on your phone. And that is it once you've hit it you use the phone. And the app and it'll basically direct you to the golf ball so in theory you shouldn't lose it so here we go balls is in range i'm gonna start off with a nice little par three up the hill 180 yards the unlosable golf ball i mean first off the color is awful that kind of blue really almost weirdly blends in with the green not a fan of that [Music] oh it sounded awful i mean i'm even looking about where it finished i don't need to look i mean i'll be honest the performance of that golf shot that's gone almost nowhere. And if i look on the phone got an issue houston we have a problem it's disconnected let's go look for it aren't we now currently as i'm walking off the tee still says disconnected on the phone i'm hopeful as i get closer to the golf ball it might just connect if i was a golfer that hit into the sun. Or i had no idea where the ball went well this isn't helping me it's only because i've got a rough idea of where that actually finished oh we've got something scanning 25 meters apparently there's a level of hope come on baby work 15 meters away apparently six meters away feels like i'm on like a does that mean like a treasure hunt we are 2.0 we're in range well i won't pretend i can't see it because i can see it. But that's positive that's saying it's in range and the golf ball is there under some leaves granted as well it's not perfect. But at least it connected not bad [Music] oh it sounds absolutely awful [Music] feels like a brick so so far the technology of this golf ball is showing a level of promise however. i've got some uh concerns about the actual golf ball itself if this golf ball gets damaged because of wear. And tear when the golf club hits the ball there might be scratches or marks on the ball which affects the performance of the golf shot magnet goes far i think it's worth just testing what that's going to be like. And i'll do a test that's a durability test from a bunk i'll hit 10 shots. And see how much actual damage is created to this golf ball [Music] this golf ball failed miserably at the durability test the worst i've ever seen it's scratched up it's marked it's almost like a plastic cover if i was to play golf now with that ball that would definitely affect performance that is a big negative i'm gonna put this one back in the bag. And wait till the end of the video to chop this one in half to see what's inside it now the last hole showed glimpses of promise for the technology but it's not perfect we did eventually get it to track however. i was only hitting the sixth iron. So this time i'm in the 12th hole drivable path four which normally the normal ball i'm getting close to the green however. there's an element on this hole that i'm slightly worried about yes you might not lose the golf ball if you can track it. So well and good but there's water down the left-hand side of this hole if i hit it in there i'm never getting it back let's be honest how's this golf ball going to react when i smash it with the driver i mean is it going to even withstand the impact never mind trying to find it afterwards. So this is the annoying bit i've got to connect to new ball connect with that do you really want to have this ball yes i do bishop we're connected new ball in play okay good luck ball oh that sounded awful oh it's down the right hand side oh my god it's like deafened me that ball oh surprise surprise it's disconnected again again if i had no idea where that ball went i'd have no clue where to walk let's wander down there. And see when it actually does connect again hopefully it does this time you know i just got thinking walking down this hole here i see a fundamental issue with this golf ball the way it connects to the app. And the phone is via bluetooth. And as most people know of bluetooth speakers or airpods or whatever there's only a certain range before it disconnects so it's going to disconnect i didn't think of that before i'm less than 100 yards away from the golf ball now i know that because i kind of not can see it. But i know it's just over the hill and it's still disconnected at the moment now apparently they're looking online it's 30 feet 10 meters that bluetooth works from so i have to be much closer in range to the golf ball okay. So now it's just connected again at around about kind of 10 meters not buried this time it's lit the ball's just here horribly finished in an old divot from somebody's what's it saying now yeah. And then.

All you get then.

Is in range obviously it's in range it's right in front of that me was disgusting. But i've played oh i thought i'd play the world this ball definitely doesn't travel as far as a normal golf ball i've said it once. But i'll say it again it might look like a golf ball but it definitely doesn't sound like one all right guys i've got the ultimate test now guy is currently hiding my golf ball here on the 18th hole i have no idea where he's gonna put it roughly where i'd hit driver. But that's all i know i'm gonna have to try and use the app to try and find it it's gonna be a proper test but while he's doing that that'd be good opportunity to chop this one in half this is the one that we kind of obliterated before i'm intrigued obviously obviously inside of golf balls oh my goodness that's hard [Laughter] i can't cut it in half if i find a way of cutting it in half i'll insert it here [Music] right i've just hit my imaginary tee shot the ball is not connected at the moment all i'm gonna do is walk down roughly the length i'd normally hit drivers that's the only clue i've been given. But i have no idea. And direction left right in the trees in the roof in the bunker who knows hopefully this will tell me if i get closer now as much i don't think this microchip ball would actually conform with the rules of golf. Yet i am going to abide by the rules of golf saying i've only got three minutes to find the ball once i start looking in the rough distance range if i don't find it in that time frame i would deem it unsuccessful i'm gonna put my bag down okay my timer starting now right i'm gonna try right rough first i think left rough would have been predictable oh we are connected [Music] i'm 17 meters away apparently my plane partners will be thinking i'm going mental in range in range it's here somewhere in range in range come on come on in range right right now it's in range now i just have to look seven six five four three two one timer is done i did not find it in the time frame it was it was here somewhere where was it i'm nowhere near [Applause] thanks there's glimpses. And it's a small glimpse that technology like this could work what would be really interesting if a mainstream brand the tightest the callaway shrieks and the taylormade potentially took technology like this and incorporate it into a new line of golf balls because the golf ball needs to get better yes is this at the moment i don't think it is it's an interesting concept i feel like we would be living in the future if a ball like this could come off. But the moment it's not quite there we'll see you next.

Time.
