All right guys so we're down here today.
At traffic gold center in manchester testing the new mizuno jpx 850 forged iron i've been looking forward to reviewing this i've had a lot of messages lots of comments saying when are you going to test the mizuno when are you going to test it i've been dying to it's just trying to get a hold of one that's the tricky bit now i've got hold of one it is a sample version. So the actual hosel isn't fixed in but it's still the same club and it's all the information i'm going to give you is about the club head um it's a forged iron that's offering power that's simply as it is it's offering power because they've used a different material inside the head. So forged metal is normally really soft. And that's why the feel off the face is generally really nice it feels fantastic they've kept the same feel. But they've strengthened the metal by using boron which apparently is 30 stronger. So inside the head you know you can't see it from the outside inside the head they've used this stronger material but kept the forged feel on the face which is i think it's a massive massive bonus. And it comes in an awesome looking head i mean it really is gorgeous completely you know silver all the way through um it's got nice detailing you can see from the from the back of the club it's just got a simple mizuno symbol the jpx 850 a little bit of force as well on the normal club it does say it's about the boron on the hosel there. But because this is a sample version it's not got that. But the club has the same i've got this in six iron today.
And the lofts are very fair this is 28 degree 6 iron. So it's not ridiculously strong you know compared to other manufacturers that's not really that strong um i've been hitting this best so far in this shaft this is the kbs tour c taper shaft in stiff flex it's got like slightly kind of graphite metallic look. And with this head looks at the biz it looks really good i'm hitting on gc2 with real golf balls on the simulator you might have just seen the first shot clip on screen there i've got a flag out there at 190 which for a six iron is a nice six iron with a forged six iron i wouldn't always expect to be getting that kind of distance. So let's hit some shots uh behind the ball it's got a really nice slim line uh there's quite a big chunk at the back edge but you can't see that when you look straight down the club so that's that's a massive bonus so visually appealing to the eye right let's hit some shots and it does offer that forged feel off the head see the flight there a little draw nice penetration oh not a bad start not a bad start let's see some carry distance on that. So 185 carry distance um obviously that's hitting into a green so it's just rolled out a little bit i suppose it didn't get the most height in the world it wasn't up in space it had that nice kind of penetration flight felt awesome off the face felt really good right let's go again that might have just leaked to the right but the feel again off the face is fantastic i didn't hit the middle of the club face there i've been punished i've missed the green granted. But i've not really lost that much distance to be fair directions let me down a little bit let's try and hit the green rick come on um that's more maya than anything obviously right let's go again oh it just feels really solid the feel off the face is is almost as if it's a um a bladed iron it feels like a blade um. But offers forgiveness off centered hits as well so it's it's got a really good blend to it now the advantage of a forged head you just get to feel the shot so much sweeter you get to certainly into the shorter islands when you hit it eight times nine nine's pitchy match the feel of the face is much more much much better um from a performance standpoint there's not a great deal it's going to do differently it is just feel right come on let's make sure we hit the green oh i love the flight it's slightly low. And the shaft might have something to do with a little bit with that. But again really solid fantastic hit it feels great well i said i'm hitting into a green at 190. So i'm not expecting to at the green every single time but it's the feel off the face i'm trying to highlight to you today.
Um this is one of very little mizuno clubs i'll actually test on the channel i'd love to test more i'd love to get hold of more i think the moving in the right oh not moving in the right direction already out the right direction making a forged line that's stronger can only be a good thing right let's go one more oh that could be really good that could be really good as long as it doesn't go too long this is going to be on it oh not bad at all. So it's carrying air at 190 yards for a six iron they are big hits. But it's not stupidly strong loft you know it's not it's not like other manufacturers they've stayed at 28 degrees which is still stronger than conventional 10 years ago. But not ridiculously strong compared to some of the manufacturers out there today.
It looks amazing the silver detailing on the club face. And the club head is amazing it's really good forged. But feels excellent i think they've got a winning ingredient with this club i really do i think this is this is hitting all of the right marks. For the target audience i would kind of say for this club you'd be your mid-handicapper maybe just starting to creep into your single-figure handicapper and going down from that point i don't think it offers maximum forgiveness. For your higher handicapper so it's that medium handicapper going down into single figures guys thanks. For watching that was my review today.
The mizuno jpx 850 forged with boron technology stronger material feels great with the simulator software gc2 because all the shots that i hate i didn't hit the grid every time.
