Hi guys it's rick shields down here at quest golf academy here at prairie sports village i'm going to be testing. And reviewing the new cobra f8 driver and not only the driver i've got the f8 plus i've got the f8 irons got the one length f8 irons the fairway woods and the hybrids all in f8 from cobra so this is quite a marathon of testing lots of new clubs to come stay tuned f8 driver let's remove that massive head cover. And underneath we see a very very smart cool design in the f8 driver this is a black. And gray finish they're called the granado grey and this without questioning my eyes is the best looking cobra driver they've ever made it looks. So unbelievable and it features loads of new technologies i've not seen before in drivers at we've got all got quite a lot to cover but we'll go through the most important aspects first for me the face of this driver is probably the most eye-catching feature to this golf club as soon as you pick it up this has a milled face on the driver that has not been done in drivers ever before. And certainly that i know of you often see milled facing in irons in wedges and certainly in putters but cobra are claiming now with this new milled face technology you're getting the most precise driver face that's ever been made what that gives you as a golfer apparently is more consistency across the face more ball speed more distance we've heard that bit before we'll actually test that on gc quad hitting real pro v1s in this review we then.

Also see a huge improvement of air flow around the heads they've really worked hard on the airflow they call this aero. Or 360 degree aero they've got these kind of new aerodynamic strips on the top even at the bottom as well that's again reducing airflow making this driver as fast as possible we've seen again that before in technology but not in this kind of way where it's more 360 around the face completely and then.

We see a very different top of this driver for a cobra this is a multi-material we've got carbon at the back. And then.

Titanium at the front this is not new we've seen this before i'm sure many people will say that very much looks like a taylormade m1. And m2 and i can't argue with that at all it looks so much like a taylormade and one of them two certainly this contrasting look across the top i'm not sure how a lot of people will view that i thought the m1. And m2 were very good-looking drivers are people going to accept that in the cobra we'll wait. And see in the f8 model we've got a weight at the back and a weight in the heel this f8 is the standard model which is more suited to high spin. And kind of getting the ball to draw a little bit i will test the f8 plus in the next.

Video uh we've also still got my fly loft where you can move the weight the loft. And the langle eight different ways to again fine-tune this driver let's get hit in this so there's still more technology just wait i feel like i need to hit a shot before we continue with more technology so i've got this in nine and a half i've got this in the aldila rogue i've been fitted for this extra stiff shaft the shaft that i typically use and wow that driver from the top right let's concentrate let's hit some shots pro v1 gc quad cobra f8 driver it looks awesome and that's come out like a rocket i'm expecting a little bit of draw bias because the weight is in the heel even though it's only a two gram weight it has got a bit of heel bias to it that's come out really nice 286 carry. For 308 really good flight spin rate was low there at 2100 ball speed was high at you can see a load of data there upon screen strike location kind of middle on the equator line now typically what i've seen from cobra drivers in the past. And this is always my gripe is on off bottomed hits i don't seem to get the performance that was close to that borderline where i think if it went a little bit lower in normal in coba drives in the past i've seen big drop-offs in performance let's see if that's actually the case in the new f8 it looks awesome that felt. And sounded really solid another bomber that's high off the face that is super low spin. And that is long that is long that's the one where i catch it slightly higher off the face with the cobra driver. And i've got no complaints with cobra drivers in the past when they've hit above the equator line it's just the shots below the equator line i've really struggled with that was smashed you can see strike location there just above the center of the strike. And that's come out so good what i do like about this milled face is the mill face almost has like a well it has a circle in the middle of the milled face which really kind of focuses your attention on the strike location. And with it being a black face milled face it's actually very clear to see the dimple marks after you've hit a shot you can actually see the dimples quite clearly which i think. For a lot of golfers again is a really good tool to be able to identify strike location now the f8 is a 460cc the f8 plus is smaller. But the f8 is the full size full 460cc head. And man that looks really mean the difference between the m1. Or taylormade driver compared to this is where the the front border it's almost a bit more of a v-shape. So it does slightly focus your mind more to the middle. And those fins on top very much remind me of what callaway have done in the past and even ping with the turbulators they kind of blend in a few different bits of technology there but this milled face is new nobody's done that before. So far very good from the first couple of shots that's a few more with this f8 oh that's drawn too much that was a bit towie not horrendous actually a little bit totally he's are big hits they are i'm i'm very very happy with the length of golf shot i'm very happy with the ball flight the spin rate numbers seem good was that a little bit low maybe on the spin yeah a little touching low that's 1600. And this isn't the low spin setting this shouldn't be that low spin but it seems to be working nicely for me there yeah good three good goal shots now another feature in this drive. And we saw it in the f7 and this was kind of toyed with. And a lot of people did like it they seem to get a lot of data from it is the cobra connect which is powered by archos still sits inside the grip. And this is a tool that can be linked to an app on your phone. And when you hit your driver the phone knows you've hit that club because it vibrates and it hears the sound and starts recording how far you've hit certain shots and that's a really good tool and that's actually this new uh cobra connects is actually sitting in all of the golf clubs in all of the new f8 range i'm really a massive fan of this. So far let's just have a quick look at those three golf shots because i don't think i'm gonna hit three good goal as good of golf shots as that. And i want to test another few to see what happens if that horrible bottom strike does creep in. So you look at the data there across the screen and the three videos i've just hit three shots have just hit there i mean numbers you just don't get any better than that from me. And my driving 289 carry for 312 total distance 1800 spin bearing in mind this is not the low spin version. So like absolutely exactly where i'd want to be with the driver 161 ball speed launch angle 13 degrees it just does not get any better. And honestly the feel the sound the flight the look a ticking every single box for me i'm gonna hit three more just to see what happens if i do get that nasty little bottom strike i'm not gonna try. And get it but let's just wipe those they're the three amazing golf shots let's wipe those hit three more and just see what happens let me wipe those next.

To start again so the the one issue i've always had slightly with a cobra driver if i do catch it bottomed i find that spin rates really shoot up i know three more drives. And see if that shot actually creeps in it might not do. But let's see if it does yeah that's not as good a golf shot let's see how that's performed i didn't absolutely get every bit of that it's done okay it's done okay you'll see strike location on screen in a minute. And it's kind of my way of just being able to highlight any kind of inconsistencies across the face see 262 at 3 000 spin and you'll see in the next.

Clip where the strike location took place much more much lower much more off the bottom i wasn't intentionally trying to do that. But because i hit up on the ball quite a bit four and a half five degrees sometimes the bottom strike does creep in it's always been my slight concern with the cobra driver i almost feel like it does suit players that hit down on the ball a little bit more. And potentially hit slightly higher on the face that's done okay i'm not too worried about that shot considering i hit it. So badly let's go a couple more that was a nicer hit yeah see the difference look i mean it's almost carried the distance of the other's total golf shot that was more 1900 spin. So just under 2000 and you'll see up on screen in a second i mean that that shot has carried the total distance of the last shot strat location above that equator line. And i must admit i've actually threw the ball there i've swung at zero path zero face but still got four degrees up i sometimes feel like with a cobra driver i've gotta hit down on the ball a bit more to get the right flight but i seem to be getting some very very good numbers off different parts of the face let's go one more yeah that was again just maybe ever. So slightly off the bottom of the golf club as long as it's getting there in kind of 260s i can live with that because deep down i know that wasn't a good goal shot. So i can kind of go all right that's that's all right i've got i've still got it down there i've still got in play yeah two five eight carry quite short. For my normal hits but where i struck on the face you'll see that that's kind of popping up quite clearly in a minute yeah see how it's below the equator line i still think there's a concern there between forgiveness. And spin numbers when that strike happens low on the face but when it's actually catching middle to high on this driver wow i'm all over it i'm absolutely all over it i think the performance the looks the feel the technology the idea the middle face there's a lot of talk about whether this milled face is going to produce more spin well i don't think that's the case if anything i think it's stripped even spit more spin off the advantage of the carbon crowns you can stick more weight in the bottom of the driver that's what they've done i think they've made a bit of a mistake of copying the m1 m2 look on top i think that is a big mistake on their part. But in this black and grey this nado gray with the cobra connects i mean it's got a lot of things going. For it it really really has and i think this could be a huge hopefully huge turning point with cobra they've gone from they've now stuck to a product line as well they've gone f6 f7 f8 i think it's really important. For cobra to do this year because there's some continuity some consistency you might have seen the five year test i did recently i wasn't blown away at all i was actually quite disappointed this has taken it up that level again. For me which i'm really impressed with um loads of technology i'm very impressed with what it's doing how it's looking how it's feeling the ball flights the performance everything and bear in mind this is not the driver that should suit me this is more forgiving version i'm going to test the f8 plus next.

Video stay tuned. For that and then.

We're going to move into the fairway woods the hybrids. And the irons loads more videos to come thanks for watching guys stay tuned subscribe to channel to be brand new and that was the king of the cobra king f8 driver very very pleasing numbers thanks.
