Right guys so today.
I've got hold of the new nike drivers i've got the knight covert. And they've also got the night culvert tour as well the vrs tour i'm going to test these two on flight scope today.
My name is rick shiels you're down here at trafford golf center in manchester. And i'm going to get it on flight scope. And give it a real good review tell you the different specs on the two golf clubs in genuine golf balls give you the readings at the end i'm then.
Going to rate the two golf clubs on a few different factors on feel adjustability price distance accuracy i'm going to give it an overall rating. And then.
Hopefully then.
That's going to be able to give you a bit of an idea of which club will best suit yourself there's been a lot of hype about the new knight covert driver um about the the the players that are going to be using it uh mcelroy has been using it. So far in the past he's been using the the normal one not the tour one so far which is quite a surprise you think he may be using the tour version. But we'll try and see why he's using the the normal version instead of the tour version and give you some spec on the two golf clubs what's good what's bad why they've gone for different designs and why they've gone for the red and while they've gone for this cavity back the different features to it how adjustable it is how easy it is to hit. And then.
I'm also going to choose out of these two. Or the flight scope figures will show which one of these two is the longest i'm then.
Going to test it against our reigning champion at the moment longest which is the rbz stage 2.. So i'm going to give that a hit as well. And be able to see which one of these two is going to battle against the rbz now if we just place the drivers down first i'm just going to place the tall one down. And talk you through the the features of the the normal covert driver now the first thing that we notice is this fantastic red color on the top of the head now this is more of a market employer i believe from nike i spoke to the night guys the the rep from like. And they said it was actually more about the advertisement. So when you see it on tv it stands out you've got the taylormade who are using white you've got other manufacturers using different colors. But nike have gone for this red and i think it looks brilliant i really do i think it looks. So good it also makes the golf ball stand out using the normal white golf ball it makes it stand out really nicely now a couple of the biggest features of this new driver is this cavity back this section that's missing out the back of the club. So what they've actually done is they've whipped this area out this whole back edge i mean you can really see i can really get quite a bit of a sectioning. And i can actually almost place a golf ball in there as well. So it almost uses a bit of a golf ball holder okay. And what they've done is they've moved that weight into the heel. And into the toe so on off centered hits off the toe or off the heel the club doesn't twist as much so on off-center strikes it's supposed to perform a lot better uh we'll see how true that is a great feature this new driver is the the sort of flex loft that you can get on the on the shaft. So you can actually take the head off the head's got no loft on it at all. So there's actually no indication of how much loft is on this it just says flex loft. And the advantage of this is you can actually change the loft. For four degrees difference so you can start at eight. And a half and move it all the way up to twelve and a half degrees of loft just by taking the head off and putting it into these different settings on the on the neck of the golf club here it's very easy to get a little tool or wrench and you can actually use other wrenches. And tools it's the same sort of allen type key wrench so i used the taylormade one before and changed it so i've changed this to nine and a half and neutral and that's what i've set the tour one version as well you can also make it left right. Or neutral like just see it's two sections to it and you just twist it and turn it and put it back in it's dead that'd be easy to do the shaft i'm going to be using this this is the standard kuru cage 50 gram stiff flex. So this is just the standard length standard grip. So again it's all as much as a lightness to the the tour version as well the way you can see the the difference between the cover. And the tour one the cover has got the actual white face to it sorry the chrome face to it where the tour's got the black and the black finish the tall ones a little bit smaller in head size so when you do set them up they're a little bit smaller in head size the coat the uh the tour version. But both look really appealing both in that red okay um also on the club it's got the big nike tick which i think again looks brilliant when you set behind the golf ball it's got lots of little features it's got next.
Core face which is sort of a strength in face apparently a faster ball speed. So i'm going to hit a few shots. For you now with this um and then.
We'll look at the figure i'm going to hit 10 real golf balls with this club the the covert okay. So the first one up is the nike covert drive i'm knit 10 with this i'm going to let you hit. So you see you hit see me hit three of them and i'm going to hit the rest. And fast-forward them so you don't have to sit there watching i'm going to hit the tall one same thing again 10 real golf balls with it look at the reviews look sorry look at the figures look at the flight scope data. And then.
Compare them to each other now first things first just behind the golf ball the club looks it looks awesome to be fair it looks really really good the the red against the white with the covert line on the top where the alignment is the big nike swoosh on the back really helps i don't know it concentrates your mind into the middle of the golf club this is the 460cc head um. So it looks awesome it looks really good nice weight to it i've got a 50 gram shaft in this and let's give this a few a few hits and see what it's going to do oh that was really good that felt great great sound to it you know it came off came off pretty sharp pretty fast i've hit that right in the middle let's see what happens if i do catch it a bit out the toe. So apparently this extra padding in the toe and the heel supposed to correct and off strike so let's hit this one a little bit out the toe i still found the fairway that's a brilliant shot that was that was much more out the toe than the heel than the middle that time. So let's now this time find the heel a little bit on it i can't get over how straight that was actually that that really didn't twist a great deal at all when i hit that let's hit the heel a little bit on this one that's gone that's gone even straighter yeah just to confirm that came more out the heel. And that's gone really straight so middle toe heel doesn't seem to alter the ball flight really i've hit three of those little drawers found down the middle on the third one actually um nine and a half neutral flat neutral loft neutral setting sorry i've hit the middle the toe and the heel i'm gonna hit another ten balls or seven balls now to make it up to ten and then.
We'll look at the figures and see see what's happening with the figures as well so if we start looking through the figures now of the nike covert driver uh we can really see some nice shapes being hit uh some little drawers some decent distances i was averaging about 250 with the driver um in today's sort of climate. So it was a little bit cold. But a lot of the figures i was very pleased with. And certainly very pleased with the off-centered strikes you can see there a few on the on the board at the moment averaged at 249. But i really did hit a few of those out the toe. And out the heel to experiment the grouping of them were all very very very consistent. So nice grouping right in the middle of the fairway and overall a very good golf club to hit and very very enjoyable so now it's the turn of the nike cover tour and let's see what results that gets right and so i've just hit a load of golf clubs with the the covert i really really liked it was a great sound a great feel. And some decent figures on flight scope with it as well now it's for the tour version now the the tour version this is a slightly smaller compact smaller head. So when it sets up behind the golf ball it looks a bit sweeter it looks a bit smaller it's a bit more compact so it's also got the same feature in the top of the head the actual big hollow in the back and this actually looks like a slightly bigger hollow in the back so the ball literally sits right in there so it really does sit right in the top there they've actually moved all that weight into the heel. And into the toe they've also got the flex loft on it so you can still use this move this from eight. And a half degree all the way to twelve and a half degree and it's from left neutral and right so you can change the the angle of the club face as well uh this has got the black finish as opposed to the chrome finish on the other one. So the black on the red looks incredible it's really really good and it's got slightly different shaft this is the tour version this is the kuro cage this is a 60 gram stiff flex. So this is slightly heavier than the the standard covert driver as well now there's typically about 100 pounds. Or dollars difference between this one and the covert this this one is normally 100 pound. Or 100 more expensive and just wondering why really obviously it's got a slightly more upgraded shaft but why is this. So much more expensive well hopefully we'll be able to tell that on flight scope so we'll see the figures on there as well so i'm going to hit a few of these shots. For you now as well give it a bit of a a whack we're genuine golf balls get in on flight scope and see what's happening to the golf ball and see how it compares to the to the normal covert as well okay. So we're back on the covert tour and i'm gonna hit 10 with this i'll let you see me hit three and then.
We'll work at it from there so it is much smaller behind the head okay it's the same idea on the on the design of the head it's still obviously the same color red still got the cover line up symbol. And it's got the night tick along the back but it is considerably smaller i i personally prefer that look behind the golf ball it's a tad heavy it's that 10 gram extra extra heavier shafts this is a 60 gram shaft in this. But i've still got this nine and a half neutral i'm going to hit 10 with this let's see see what the results provide this is genuine golf ball oh that felt really good that's gone. So straight that really has gone straight i've buttoned that a bit like right in the middle right in the middle of the golf club which is great let's do the same test that i did with the culverts hit the toe a little bit catch the toe on this one still found the middle that's even better that's drawn a touch not quite out the toe as far as the the one before. But still pretty decent now this time i'm just going to try. And cut one i'm going to try. And find find a little bit of the heel but sort of see if i can move it left to right in the air a little bit as well struggled to do that with the normal covert it was harder to shape. And so whether that shows on the figures but it was a little bit harder to write. And left it or draw it and fade it where i feel like this one i can fade this one a little bit easier. So let's give this a go let's try and just fade this one up this left hand side oh that's beautiful that is a really nice fade it's going a little bit shorter yeah it's going a little bit shorter. But what a great fade hit the middle on that one as well it seems to my miss hits on this one doesn't don't seem to be as bad on the as it was on the the uh normal cover i was trying to almost test the theory of the cavity back on the one before where this whether it's a smaller head. And it doesn't allow you to hit the toe or the heel as much but this one didn't seem to be quite as punishing on the bad shot so i'm going to hit the rest of the golf balls to make it up to 10. So we can compare it to the the normal figures. And let's see what's happening with them and hopefully then.
We'll get some accurate readings okay. So if we look at the figures now from the night covert tour and we see some great shapes coming up on the on flight scope here some nice drawers some good ball flights nice consistent draw going on with the club there. But the good thing with the covert tour was that it could be worked in both ways as well which that was proven difficult with the normal covert distance wise again just shy of the 250 mark a little bit more backspin. And the slightly lower launch uh but very consistent hitting the fairway pretty much every time with the covert tour there now if we look at the figure side by side the nikova and knight covert tour we see little bits of differences in uh distance so a couple of yards shorter the covert tour was um spun off a little bit more only 100 revs per minute more. But if we give these golf clubs now a score i'm going to start off first with the covert now distance wise i'm going to give that a four out of five a forgiveness five out of five incredibly forgiving with that new cavity feel five out of five felt great accuracy hit the fairway every time five out of five price it's normally retailing about two four nine. So five out of five for that looks wise love the red love the look under tight tick on the back so four out of five for that adjustability with this new flex loft five out of five because there is no loft on the club head both flight really consistent five out of five. For ball flats that gives the nike covert a total score of 38 out of 40. so an absolute fantastic score for the culvert going on to the uh covert tour i need this now a scoring uh sort of relevant to it. So a distance wise four out of five a little bit shorter than the covert feel five out of five felt great accuracy again hit the fairway every single time so five out of five for that forgiveness slightly less forgiving so four out of five for that so just dropped a mark on that looks it does drop down just one mark it's dropped down to three out of five. For that only because with this smaller head i don't feel that's gonna quite suit everyone's eyes it i liked it a lot but i think. For the mass market like the bigger head behind the ball adjustability five out of five so it's got the same flex loft on the on the shaft option as well ball flight very consistent five out of five but the thing it just falls down and is price it's normally a hundred pounds to a hundred dollars more expensive. So i'm actually gonna give that only a three out of five for the price because i don't really see where the hundred pound comes from so that gives out a total score of 34 out of forty but still very two very very good drivers and if you're looking to buy a driver at the moment i would definitely try these too so after testing these two drivers now the nike cover and the night cover tour um not much splits and distance wise anyway very similar distances that we were seeing on the flight scope data looks wise very different as in smaller head. And the bigger head top of the view nothing different okay the hundred pound. Or hundred dollar price tag difference that's why you've got to ask yourself do you want something with a little bit more workability. So this one it was a little bit easier to move left. And right and right to left better looking head in my opinion slightly smaller and a bigger deeper cavity like i showed you before um either that's you're getting less club for your money but either way use it for the advantage of this being moved out and put into the heel or the toe or hide something in there uh you can stick your buddy either golf ball. Or you pat lunch in there really the night cover normal driver um this one is the one that makarov is using i said in previous videos that tiger's using one of these two he's not i do apologize about i did get that wrong he's actually using the normal uh vrs um macaroons using this one. And i can probably see why he's looking at a bit more distance rather than the accuracy maybe doesn't need to work as much anymore just wants to bomb it down there nice. And long so the covert night covert was the longest only about a few yards granted. But this is the one i'm gonna up against the rbz stage two in my next.
Video. So three genuine golf balls each again the nike cover longest drive competition against the reigning champion which is the taylormade rbz stage 2.. So thanks very much for watching i hope you enjoyed the video uh alexa i want to give these the most best review and opin and sort of score that i can possibly give it i've tested them on exactly the same day with real golf balls we are in manchester um. So i've tested them side by side on flight scope i've given you the figures that flight scope has given me so hope you've enjoyed the video if you do share it comment like it you can check me out on facebook. And twitter as well and i would love you to subscribe to the channel thanks very much for watching my name has been rick shields and hopefully i'll see you again soon.
