Hi my name is rick shields down here at trafford golf center in manchester. And today.
I'm going to be testing the new nike vr forged pro combo irons these are the brand new ones that have just come out this year. And i think one of the first people really to get their hands on them i've got the full set. So i'm going to have the luxury about hit the longer irons which is featuring this pocket cavity. And the back of the golf club it's got this big pocket here which is more forgiving as it goes then.
Into the mid iron i think it stopped that pocket cavity stops at about six well it does stop at six iron then.
Into the seven iron it gets a little bit more bladey. Or still a more of a cavity but a little bit more blade where it's got a split cavity so it's not got the pocket anymore going down into 99 which is even smaller head. And again it's slightly even thinner at the back so it's really suited to golfers who kind of want that that forgiveness on the longer rounds but then.
Want the workability and playability as they go into the shorter club so it might be for a mid teen handicap or even into a low single figure handicapper i'm going to be hitting them um i'm going to be hitting some five good golf shots with each club. And i'm going to provide you guys with the figures uh. So you can see how far they're going now it is quite cold day you might be able to see my breath smoking there it is quite a cold day i've actually even bought a thermometer now just to be able to tell you guys how cold it is. So again you can work out how how much different it is because compared to the conditions you're at the moment i'm measuring this at the moment at six degrees celsius which is about 41 degrees fahrenheit. So guys that's quite a cold day today.
So we've got a little bit of frost on the ground but like i said i'm all as always i'm going to hit real golf balls. And give you the most honest figures i can possibly ever give you um. So then.
In the next.
Video i'm going to be comparing these bad boys against the titleist ap2s both are forged iron. And i think that'll give us a really good comparison to which ones if you're kind of looking in that market which ones to be tested. So what i'm going to be doing like i said i'm not going to bore you with making you sit through every single shot i'll hit a couple just to give you a bit of feedback on the golf club. But generally then.
We're going to fast forward it. And then.
Show you the figures and give you a bit of a summer at the end so this is the five iron. And it sits so nicely behind the golf ball even though it has got this big pocket cavity and it's forgiving it doesn't look ridiculously forgiving so it doesn't like a shovel i know they've got their uh their big vrs irons out but they they don't look like a super forgiving golf club but yet they are offering lots of forgiveness. So five iron i think it's 27 degrees in the five let's say a few of these oh wow yeah that came out nice very nice very solid sounded great felt very forgiving what a ball flight now the reason they brought this pocket cavity in is to lower the center of gravity to bring it right down to the bottom. And that way it launched up nice and high so again for these lower for these longer irons that's perfect because it helps you hit the ball nice and high so when you land onto the green it stops really quick so we'll knit down to seven now this is where the split cavity comes into play. So it stops at six so i'll hit a few sevens this is 35 degrees wow oh yes they are really nice you might have seen one of my videos previously where i said about the ping gas 55s are still an order. But i'll tell you what these might be these might be coming into the bag at some point if i don't get on with the 55s oh they're just silly good they just feel really good off the bat oh nike you've excelled yourself let's go down to the nine so again now this even though it is a more forgiving a less forgiving golf club when you're looking over it you can't tell out of any of these golf clubs whether what the back's doing. So it's the top line is still very very slim. And and just so nice behind the ball oh yes i tell you what there'll be some players using these there will be some players at very good level using these golf clubs oh they're great they're really good. So guys i'm going to continue hitting those i'm going to get five realistic golf shots with each ball with each club. And give you the figures and then.
We'll have a quick summary about the clubs you can kind of tell i'm already a big fan of them hopefully the figures will reflect that i don't think they're going to be the longest i really don't i don't think they're going to be as big as the taylormade. But the lofts don't reflect that either um they are an easy hitting golf club they look fantastic they feel great because that forged metal we'll get them on the flight scope. And see what's happening with the data so so so we've seen the figures for the nike vr forge pro combo and like i said before they're not going to be the longest in the world i'm not expecting that. But they are. So nice to hit they feel great i think if we had a different day if the temperatures are up a bit like i say we're on about five degrees uh celsius. And about 40 odd degrees fahrenheit i think if we did have a slightly hot today.
We would have better figures further figures should we say. But realistically they are very very nice golf clubs great spacing great flight very easy to hit in the longer irons more workability. And eat and control in the shore trines and just an awesome set of golf clubs guys nike are really making some good gear out there now i'm not sponsored by nike even though i've got a nightcap i'll cover that up i really am not um. But great golf clubs really easy to definitely worth trying if you're that kind of mid to low handicap range who are looking.
