I've managed to get my hands on the new nike cover driver this is the much anticipated driver that rory mcilroy announced he's going to be using this year. And so is tiger woods um i've managed to get my hands on it. For about 10 minutes this morning so give it a quick review and hit some shots with it got it going on flight scope i'm going to give you some measurements. And ideas about how far it's going now we are on a cold manchester day today.
It's probably about sort of minor might even minus one. Or two degrees so ball flight wasn't quite as true reflexive as it could have been when i do get my hands on one properly i will give it a full-on review. And a full test but i can give you a bit of an idea of what it was capable of today.
Now a few features of the nike driver uh first off this idea of being a cavity back driver is the idea is that the toe. And the heel are quite heavily packed out with quite a bit of club head behind them. So when you when you hit it off centers if you hit it towards the toe or hit off the heel the club face doesn't twist as much as you come back down to hit so off centered hits are much more forgiving it's got the 460cc head which most drivers have got these days. But it's also got the added benefit and the adjustability of the neck and the shaft angle um where you can actually adjust the club head by four degrees. So you can actually do it eight eight. And a half degrees uh quite strong headed loft you can go all the way up to 12.5 degrees of loft as well there's also three face angles on the club where you can sit it open closed. Or square so whether that suits your game in any way you can set it as you prefer now the idea of the red head once we look down on the golf ball here now the idea of the redhead is not really anything to do with um sort of technology. And nothing's been studied on this it's quite simply for the fact that when you're watching it either on tv or in an advert when you're seeing rory mackerel and tigewood using it you know straight away what brand the golf club is. So taylormade have obviously got the white uh golf club head market sewn up ping seemed to be going down the more root of the completely black shiny finish. So uh nike have gone for red and i quite like the look of the club head it's very very clean when you look down on the golf ball it's a very vibrant red color which looks brilliant when it's set up it stands nicely behind the golf ball and you can also see it's just got this night tick in the heel section of the club. And again just for branding you know what nike like they look like to put ticks everywhere so i've hit it a few times i've got a few flight scope figures as well i say they're not 100 accurate figures i that the the temperature is very very cold this morning i only had it. For about 10 minutes so i only got a few shots with it i tried it in a few different settings in an open and square position but we'll see how it goes and i hope you enjoy the video right guys so first uh feeling as soon as i've hit that shot it feels incredibly solid and the the strike i didn't quite middle this first one yet it still managed to go 247 yards with a bit of a draw like so that's probably a little bit less than what i would normally hit my driver but we are very cold temperature at the moment. But it did come off very very fast here on the next.
Shot i've managed to hit this one with less clubhead speed. But still managed to create quite a lot of uh distance 239 yards considering again didn't quite quite quite middle it just just yet now this third one this one was much much better i hit this one a little bit more in the middle again the temperature is low. So it's only gone two three eight but the flight of the ball was very very penetrated i started off at 10.5. And i've just dropped it down to 9.5 now and you can see here on this last one i've managed to actually get it to just drop the height a little bit. And hit that one two three five and just in general the club had felt really really nice when i hit it again this was i'll keep making excuses more than anything i'll be honest guys this was a cold manchester day i didn't quite catch it out the middle um on the first few shots. But the forgiveness that felt i forgot from the club because of that cavity the way that doesn't twist too much as you hit it felt really really solid very nice um thank you very much for watching guys you can follow me on twitter.
