Hi guys my name's rick shields down here at trafford gold center in manchester and today.
I'm going to be testing the new ping i-25 this is the new version from the i-20 i've got the i-15 actually it's almost two generations old now uh the difference with this in the i-20 is not a huge amount they've come up with a new graphic design on top the go faster stripes which is helping you line up the club better address which makes sense you know taylormade have brought it out they did it with the arby's head stage two. And also with the r1 but ping have done it in quite a subtle manner to this this time which is nice i quite like it it wouldn't really put me off. But it wouldn't also make me go out and buy this golf club it's just it's quite a nice subtle design and we've got difference in this we've got the adjustability on the neck so you can change the loft. And funnily enough you can only change it by half a degree which ping is saying that doesn't sacrifice uh performance wise then..
So if you change it by too much it could sacrifice performance so they might be having a little bit of a dig at other companies there the only difference really with this in the i20 like say the the finish is almost identical apart from there's got a bit more touch than waiting a bit more defined punched. And weight in here at the back so on off-centered strikes the club's not supposed to twist quite as much but generally it just looks like a newer version of your i20 with adjustability on the neck i'm going to put it up to the testosterone i'm going to get it on gc2 hitting real golf balls i'm going to give you some distances. And just from the off that i've just looked down at the gc2 and i've just hit that 286 carry distance so it's it's a long gun it's it's a good one that i'm going to test testing. So i'm gonna hit four more golf balls off that uh funny enough i'm gonna use that first one that's quite a nice one and and then.
We're gonna kind of see how far the ball is going. And give you some averages at the end and also about dispersion of the golf club as well and give you my opinion on this golf club see how it feels so let's make sure that one was pretty straight as well to be fair where i hit it well 286 that's a lot longer than a lot of the clubs i've tested in the past. But let's see how it performs over the averages of the five very nice now i've got this set up on nine and a half and i've got it in the normal stock stiff shaft 285 so a very very good carry distance again you know that is far superior that i've been driving a lot of the golf clubs. So far on my channel using the gc2 launch monitor that felt really good i mean like i said the go faster strike doesn't really do a great deal. For me it's not it's not massively distracting me it makes it quite easy to line up that is really nice 283 i mean they are solid golf shots you know i've got no disappointments with that whatsoever it's spinning low it's not launching ridiculously high. So it's in that kind of 14 degree bracket wow this this is much longer than a lot of the clubs i've tested like. So i've done the night cover i'm about to the callaways i've done the taylormades and none of them have been consistently carrying this far but i just hit these last two pretty good as well oh it's a bit right which is a shame. But i still hit it fairly well i've still hit it very well 292 of carry distance and to be fair it went a little bit down the right hand side but not ridiculous amounts now it's a pretty solid hit in fact it's only gone three yards right so it's not far right at all it started right and then.
Drew back in to be fair and the wind's a little bit off the left today.
But gt2 doesn't doesn't pick that up let's go one more wow ping oh just off the bottom so it's 274 but even a 2-7-4 golf shot is far superior than some of the shots that i've already hit using the gt2. So if you have a look at the data and that is impressive impressive figures i'm pulling out there um. So i'll fill up the data up on screen for you if you look down the right second to right column we can see there's some data on the side the average carry distance was 284 yards that smashed every other driver that i've tested. So far it really has i mean whether because i've been used to using ping. And whether the shaft fits me well but this is that is very very long the good stuff with it is the average ball speed is 161 which is pretty good i normally get about one five 159 160. it's a little bit faster with that the launch angle is 13.7 which myself i still see as being optimum. So i still see that being quite a nice launch angle and the spin rate has been 2090 so very good not too ridiculous high launching but low spinning the dispersion granted i hit a couple down that left-hand side i think that last one was probably my worst one written 34 yards left granted. But some of the biggies that i hit there i mean i am straight to the the furthest right column a couple left. But most of them pretty much down in the middle of the fairways i would have hit four out of five fairways i would have said that. So guys that was my review of the ping i-25 impressive stuff you know god i wasn't expecting that today.
I wasn't you know i've got the callaways up to test next..
And i thought one of those two would be one of the big boys but have really pulled out the bag today.
A very subtle design on the head beautiful looking club. And performance wise it's right up there i would say this is suited to quite a high level of golf a different level of golfers really it can be aimed at low handicappers. And mid handicappers and also the high handicappers will see the benefit of this because they can adjust it. And also it's a nice forgiving head however. the g25 version will probably be still better. For the higher handicap because it offers even more forgiveness so guys that's my review of the i-25 today.
Massive really impressed with that distance. And this could i've said it i've said it on almost every drive that i've tested. Yet this could be going into the bag because that was massive there today.
