Special ones in this video i spent 24 hours in one of my favorite places in the world saint andrews the home of golf i get up to loads of fun things i'm going to show you in this video that you are not going to want to miss. And you're going to see every single bit of it. And you know what i play a little bit of cheeky golf too this 24 hours in saint andrews is presented by my good friend's mastercard. So before i check into the favorite hotel ever i've got my putter in hand i've got a bomb pocket but there's somewhere i want to visit first while this sun is just about to set [Music] wow [Music] amazing now i've ordered a little drink. For myself an old fashioned cheers everybody i've dropped my putter i'm gonna hit some ports have a sip of my old-fashioned but i just want to spend the minute enjoying looking over this view because this is probably the best lighting i've ever seen at saint andrews. And imagine come july 2022 stood up here watching the eventual open champion walking down the 18th hole and sinking the winning port i mean this has got to be the hottest ticket in town to stand up here. And the done it's always nice in there um you know what it's getting late i'm probably gonna head into saint andrews and have a few more beers but you don't need to see that see you bright and early in the morning [Music] this isn't a bad way to start the day look at this little bit of breakfast old course hotel overlooking the golf course it's a beautiful morning it really is. And we've just been brought out here to the schwilken loft this new restaurant here at the old course hotel look at the views i can't imagine being here for over a week but anytime you come here first tea old course dolphins getting ready to get out there um might be getting out there later on and just behind the rna clubhouse is this the world golf museum. But i'm not hugely into history but when it comes to golf history that's right up my street you know what the museum was absolutely amazing some bits i'd never seen before. And actually some really fun challenges too i love seeing the old golf clubs i even left a little message on the message board you can also play a few little games. And actually it's honestly some of the golf clubs are amazing. And they even have a room that's dedicated to sevi balosteros what a cool feature and then.
Finally the claret jug i've dreamt of having a picture with this on the 18th green at the old course since i was a little kid. And just like that dreams come true claret jug here on the 18th hole the old course and andrew's now a couple of things i didn't know i'm not allowed to touch this unless i become the open champion there's not a great deal chance of that is that let's be honest amazing claret jokes someone's gonna be lifting this up here. For the 150th this year wow that's special and then.
I ran on the beach i'm not quite sure what i was doing here. But i wanted to check out the scenery and it is again lights. And andrews just absolutely stunning and you know what check out this amazing piece of art a local resident of saint andrews did. For me to celebrate two million subscribers how cool is that okay. So we're heading back into town now and obviously saint andrews is full of golf shots. But i'm not doing any more shopping i did that yesterday i am going to go though to the end of this road because there's something really iconic this is a cool little sign which i've never seen before i'm just walking past this house old tom morris who won the open four times in 1861 62 64 67. don't forget all tom morris one of the founders of golf as we know it right now was born in a house which stood on this site 16th of june 1821. And that's a little clear also to where we're heading one of the stops you've got to check out is saint andrews cathedral where the grave of old tom morris is placed i think it's worth showing your respect there as well you know what some people might not know as well said andrews is a really busy popular town. So even if you're not that into your golf you can come here. And shop and like say eat drink nice stuff but all that being said it's time to play a little bit of golf. And look at this weather all right i've got a couple of hours left in sent andrews before i head back down the road to manchester and you know there's no way i could have come to saint andrews without playing golf. So i've got the last tee time of the day at the old course i mean is this not golf heaven i mean doesn't matter i get nervous first tee anyway i do. But on the first day of the old course there's a different level of nerves oh i've duck upped it but we are on the fairway this tee shot gets your heart pumping now granted days when your kids are born. And the day you get married they're nice [Laughter] but when it comes to playing golf don't tell the wife but i think this tops it now you might have thought come on rick i thought you were going to go drive a flick into the green pup. For birdie nobody wants to see that they want to see real golf this is now one two in the water drop three it's my fourth up. And down for bogey [Music] place it [Music] oh well you know what first round of golf this year at the old costs cause of course i wanted to start by making double well then.
Not that's how not to do it in the open championship either way it cannot be said [Music] [Music] at this point the sun was starting to set. And it was starting to go dark. And i wanted to play the last couple of holes i decided to skip a few and join up with a group on the 17th tee no pressure ads [Laughter] imagine doing well in the open you got this shot oh that is oh that was pretty perfect [Music] [Music] just let everybody down everybody [Music] [Music] okay final hole 18th hole as the sun is literally starting to properly set let's have a quick look down this hole it's absolutely stunning incredible.
