Hi my name is rick shields down here at trafford gold center in manchester. And today.
I'm going to give you a really simple tip. And drill to do to stop you from fatting the golf shot from hitting way behind it certainly coming in now to the winter months when the ground gets wet. And soggy and horrible this is a shot that we definitely don't want to hit you get a face full of mud. And the ball goes 10 yards instead of 150 yards so a lot of the time a poor connection with the golf ball is first off the understanding you should always make sure we strike certainly with the mid-iron strike the ball first. And then.
The floor immediately after not the other way around we don't want to hit the floor first and the ball after so it's ball then.
Floor now a simple way of encouraging that is to once we set up to the golf ball i often see a fat shot coming from once we get to the top that the body weight goes back. And behind the ball and ends up hitting it back here in a different way i want you to feel like your body weight is transferring forward. And getting more onto your left side that way it's going to encourage that nice ball then.
Floor after. So your center of gravity is going to be beyond the golf ball when you come in to hit. So a stead simple drill to do that if i just set up to the golf ball normally this is just a six iron. So ball position a bit in front of center what i can actually do i'm going to push the ball forward almost to what would be a driver ball position all the way up towards my left foot i'm going to place the golf ball back at the club back into its original position though now from there i want you to feel like your body weight on the way down is going to shift. And we're going to strike that golf ball in front cleanly. So if i set up normally as i get to top of the swing i'm going to shift my weight. And strike the ball in front cleanly that way again i've encouraged myself to shift onto my left side then.
When you come up to the normal golf shot so set up normally in your head in your mind's eye there is another golf ball there that's why i want you to picture that second golf ball is still there this time as you come into hit forget the original ball try. And hit that further forward ball your weight will shift onto your left. And you'll start the ball first and a little bit the floor after that way your body weight won't be going away from the target. And your centre of gravity won't be placed behind the golf ball where you're more likely to hit the ground and get a face full of mud so make sure as you come into the shot your body weight just shifts onto your left side and we get the ball and then.
The floor after that way we're gonna get really clean strikes guys my name's been rick shields down down here at traffic golf center in manchester that's a really simple drill and tip to stop you from fat in the golf shot i'm gonna do some more on those as well please leave comments in the description below to tell me how many what other tips.
