Right guys so i'm just waiting for one to land the taylormade aero burner mini driver the mini d is back in the new form. So it went from the sldr mini driver and they've carried on the trend and brought out the aero burner as well so the aero burner is a very fast driver all about aerodynamics they've got dimples on the top they've got fins around the hosel they've got the speed slot. And with the driver very good very long quite a long shafted driver um wouldn't suit everyone in the world just because of the power that it can create they brought the 3-wood. And also then.
The mini the mini-d the mini driver i've been looking forward to this because i loved my sldr mini driver loved it i'm down here at gulf central in brisbane in australia uh thanks for the guys letting me come down and hear and use their kind of vip section where they've got real shrieks and zed star golf balls which is quite nice uh gc2 as always. So we'll give some carry distances today.
I won't be able to give total distances. But i can give carry distances here when i'm off away from trafford um let's give it a smash looks wise it's got the obvious got the white head is it's a mini ara burner driver it's exactly the same concept it's just smaller air burner alignment on the on the top i've got this in stiff 60 gram shaft. And it for some reason it feels really light like really light i don't know if that's just the head as well making it feel light that's it it's about five or so see how it performs oh by the way sorry i've got this in 14 degrees i think it comes out in 12. And 16 but i've got this in 14 degrees so it's like a strong three wood really got a little tea peg that looked good look at some figures on that yeah that looked great. So it's carrying up there near to 250 carry that's longer than the 3-wood for me it's long much longer than three and i'd normally carry a three-wood just under that 150 mark but i don't know whether then.
That's it's a club to use i'm gonna do one more video testing it against the r15 three-way to see how it performs against that really um because it's got a mark at this club definitely it certainly i didn't hit that one great bit off the toe it's got a market. For golfers who struggle with driver who struggled getting driver down there and i've when i do my coaching i've seen guys struggle with driver i've popped in the mini driver in the hand straight away i said it's like a three would hit it like a three would because a lot of players can hit a three with a fairway wood struggle with the driver just because of the big head. And long shaft this is perfect. For that it's perfect for the for the golfer that maybe hits the ball a long way already but wants some accuracy so a guy who bombs it out at 300 yards but doesn't hit every fairway a mini driver again has that kind of skill set to be able to hit the ball a little bit more controlled because it's not a driver but it will still perform not as long. But it will get out there as long as the three would now what i like about this the big thing i like is i found that the taylormade drive the error burner driver. And the 3-wood were very loud explosions off the face this doesn't feel as bad as that this feels less it doesn't feel as loud as that it feels less without as long two six two um it doesn't feel as long as as loud as that really feels less i don't know whether they've changed any of the acoustics of it. But doesn't seem as loud let's go one more off the tee it's great i might be featuring a mini driver back in my bag again because that's really good yeah let's have a look at some figures there off the tee. So i hit five shots i've averaged at exactly 250 yards exactly on the carry longest one was two six two the shortest one was that third one when i hit a bit off the bottom at two three four um. So not bad at all there's some my figures there on screen where i've hit the ball on location-wise and so you can see it's just a little bit off the toe the worse off the toe on the bottom was the one that hit the shortest. So you get a little bit punished um not too bad for direction so i'm there and thereabouts for direction a little bit left but that's my general shape i'll just turn it a little bit left not bad at all not bad at all let's go off the deck next.
And i think this is where a three-wood still wins because if you're going to replace this four. Or three wood for a mini driver you still need to perform off the floor and that's where i feel that the deeper face doesn't allow its performance to floor quite as good but let's see how it how it gets on 14 degrees so it's not too strong oh see and that's why i just find this club hard to kind of justify does it replace my 3-wood. Or is it a driver replacement i still don't you know i do understand the idea of this club. But for a lot of players i don't always understand where it'll sit does it replace a driver. Or does it replace a 3-wood it's just difficult to hit off the floor it's too deep it's just too well i'll be honest i'll just top that one it's just too deep i find i feel the three wood is much easier to hit off the floor because it's more shallow i feel like this is like hitting the driver off the deck. And if i hit it like a driver off the deck i can get a result like that which is fantastic. But it just doesn't feel like a three wood for me so that one carried up 250 yards but i had to change that i'd sit it like a driver off the deck so interesting i think it's got a purpose i think it's got a purpose. For a lot of players players who hit the ball either struggle with the driver and want more forgiveness with more loft and shorter shaft or smaller head the player who hits the driver too far and wants more control does it does it does it replace the three wood just don't know if it does just don't see how it does because yes it'll go longer than the three wood because it's got bigger heads like a longer shaft. But then.
It's much harder to sit off the floor so that's my next.
