[music] hi guys my name is rick just down here traffic golf center in manchester. And today.
I've got the taylormade sldr mini driver now i've had this in the bag. For maybe a couple of weeks now but i've not had a chance to do a review on it until now the reason why it's in the bag will hopefully be explained in this video. But it's a very useful golf club certainly a golf club that would fill a void if you particularly struggle with a driver so it's a it's it's a bizarre concept this mini driver because it's it's not a driver and it's kind of not a three-wood really it's got the loft of a 3-wood but in a much bigger head but much smaller than the driver head so it comes in three different lofts it comes in 12 degrees 14 degrees and 16 degrees so effectively a 2 wood a 3 wood and a forward i've got this in 14 degrees so the three wood equivalent pretty much anyway as close to close as you can get to it. And love the look of the head it's a beautiful looking head it's nice little gray finish it's got the sldr features but without the sldr sliding weight at the at the bottom there is no adjustability in this golf club at all you can't change the neck you can't change anything once you've got it set that's it. And i don't that's a bad thing because the club that this is the market this club is aimed at is again the the gulf who let's say struggles with the big stick who struggles with the driver. And just wants to hit a a consistent drive down the middle somehow and this would be it so tinkering in the loft tinkering tinkering with the direction probably isn't the best thing to do what i'm gonna do i'm gonna get it on gc2 i'm gonna hit some real golf balls i'm gonna hit five off a really small tee first just to give you a bit of an idea of how far this thing's going i'm gonna hit some off the floor as well because it is effectively a driver you can hit off the floor um not much more to really report about the golf club as much apart from it just being like that smaller sized head. And grey top line great top finish with a little kind of sldr design at the back i've got this in the normal stiff uh fujikora shaft so this is this is pretty much standard. For myself and i'm looking forward to hitting this like i said this has been in the bag. For a while now and i'm just figuring out what it's going to replace whether it's going to replace my 3-wood. Or whether it's worth taking another club out of the bag um i don't know let's say a four iron or even my two iron and replacing it with this to find a consistent ball flight that's going to hit the fairway more often. So let's get it on the tee let's get hitting us some some shots and like i said before this design of the club head is really nice it's really subtle it's got a big head on it. For a three wood just to see if i'm getting there that it's not it's not obviously got a big head for a driver it's nowhere near 460. but it's got a head size that resembles a big forgiving fairway wood and i don't sense that being a bad thing because again it's going to build you that nice confidence right let's get hitting some shots see how far this goes. And it's just so easy to hit it really is easy to that's carried 233 yards it's only gone 1.8 yards offline. So pretty decent it spins up quite a lot it spins up in the 3000s regularly even though the central gravity is a little bit further forward on this they've used the same concept with the of the sldr driver. But it is just a fairway finder. And it just feels so good feels really good 229 yards 11 yards offline again not too bad so 230 yards of carry you'd expect maybe another 15 to 20 yards worth of roll on a normal dry day so it's up there in the 250s and it just knocks it it just absolutely rips it again 233 yards of carry distance and only 0.7 yards offline so just so straight so easy to hit it builds me with so much confidence that i can hit a relatively long goal shot down there with a nice big forgiving head it's not like my three-wood with a nice big forgiving head that's gonna find a fairway it does come out. So nicely as i've got this in 14 degrees at the moment so there is an option to go down a couple of degrees to 12. again that's only two yards off target line you know this thing is just just a missile you just track it's a fairway. And it hits fairway not as far that time two to five but still not bad let's go one more [Music] wow oh wow love it i've absolutely ripped that i ripped it out the screws of the golf club 244 yards of carry distance so my best one by far it felt amazing and again only five yards off target you can't ask more of that you know that is just down there every single time now it is also quite versatile. So that's giving me 233 yards of average carry distance off a tee i'm gonna hit five off the floor now to see how it compares off the floor as well about i've not had a great deal a chance to hit this off the floor just yet let's see what it does yeah it's just the same just the same 234 yards it has got a bit left that time i must admit i didn't hit that one quite as straight. But it's still distance-wise it's still right up there yeah super easy i'd say it's just a big forgiving 3-wood 233 yards of carry let's try. And hit these last few a little bit straighter than those two they those two weren't quite as straight as i wanted them there so let's try and hit these last three dead straight oh lovely lovely 235 yards of carry again a tiny bit left i'm actually just on the deck just off the floor i'm slightly over drawing these turning into that left corner slightly but still relatively forgiving let's go two more yeah just. For me just draws a little bit too much off the floor whether that's me coming into the golf ball a little bit more shallow a little bit more inside 13 degrees left but 224 yards of carry distance it is awesome love it. And it's such an easy golf club to hear i don't not once do i feel like i've jeopardized strike just because it's off the floor now with the face the face is much bigger off the floor here obviously because it is a driver mini driver. But still seems so easy to take off the floor it really does 229 yards of carry distance yeah just those ones off the floor there i've hit a little bit left completely honest with you i've hit those further to the left. And with more of a draw shape so with more of a right to left shape potentially because i was hitting more from the inside there because it was hitting off the deck more. But you know what for a driver hitting off the floor i don't mind it going a little bit to the left you know that shot to me is going to be a par five hitting into a second shot of a par 5. Or a super long path 4 so it's you know it's not going to put me in that much trouble. So if we look at how far it was traveling off the floor 231 yards of carry distance you know we'll take that absolutely take that after that off the tee it was 233 yards very very consistent off the tee very consistent off t i've not had loads of chance to practice with this off the floor just. Yet so hopefully once a little bit more practice i can just straighten those left shots out a touch getting used to the feel of the head getting used to the deepness of the face to make sure that i attack the golf ball at the correct angle. But a golf club that is a driver replacement guys if that's what you're looking. For if you're out there and going you know what i just can't hit the big stick get your hands on one of these seriously as a coach i completely. And utterly endorse this club as in the fact the idea the concept behind it completely makes sense people struggle with driving because it's they're too long and there's not enough loft on the face so why not make one that's slightly more lofted slightly shorter but still give it a big head big enough head to replace a three wood for example so if you're out there only hitting three wood this will be the natural progression. But that was the taylormade sldr mini driver it's going to be staying in my bag. For quite a while i'm not quite sure what it's going to replace just. Yet but it is in there because it's a very valuable golf club it's certainly a golf club. For me in my recent course videos i've been hitting it when i want to find the fairway more often so not after total distance just after finding a bullet straight shot and this has been working an absolute treat guys thanks so much for watching if you've enjoyed the video give it a thumbs up please do comment down below got any questions about it please do ask you can check out my next.
