Hi guys my name is rick shields down here at traffic golf center in manchester. And today.
I've got my hands on the new taylormade sldr fairway wood this is the slider that doesn't slide. So this hasn't got the same settings as the driver has with the sldr fairway wood you you only have the setting of the adjustable neck so you can add loft. Or deloft it by one and a half degrees i've got this in three wood which is 15 degrees. So you can tweak it. But i've got this in standard set at the moment i'm going to be hitting some real golf shots real golf balls on gc2 giving you the distances to help you determine whether this club is going to suit your game whether it's once. For you to try and get tested for and get fitted for to improve your golf game i've got this in standard stiff flex this is 77 gram in the fujikora uh taylormade stock shaft. So it's a pretty nice um shaft really now the thing what what the this three wood has got it's got the speed pocket so the tail may have been massive on this speed pocket this year they've had it in the speed blade irons they've had it in the rocket blades and it's this kind of squashy segment here just behind the face and apparently it's supposed to help with faster ball speed so therefore. hit the ball further it has got quite a forward centre of gravity but with as much as they've talked about lofting up with the driver taylormade really haven't mentioned much about lofting up with the fairway woods like i said i've just got this in standard uh standard loft at the moment 15 degrees now i'm gonna hit it off a t to make it the fairest strike quality i can get. And it looks exactly like a mini sldr you know i think. So i think taylormade are bringing out a mini sldr. But this is like a a very small version of the driver it's got the same graphics on the head it's got the little silver segment just at the back. And it looks great you know it's got nice dark gray finish which sits so nicely behind the ball um right let's give it a whack and see see what kind of numbers and distances it's giving really that help good that felt really nice it had a lot of hang time and it's pretty long for a 3-wood 257 yards of carry distance that was a pretty decent hit it's launched at 15 degrees. So about the same loft as the head i've slightly hit on the way up which is good. And it's gone 2.7 yards offline which would be a very decent golf shot indeed 257 for the 3-wood nice hit that didn't feel quite as good it felt a tiny bit towie but a 248-yard carry distance still it's gone a little bit further to the right 20 yards to the right but i suppose that still would be in a fair way i mean you would hit a three-wood ideally to help you hit more fairway certainly on tighter holes i don't think 20 yards on a 248-yard shot 20 yards offline is too bad really it feels mega solid. And the feel off the head is at speed pocket does feel like it's generating very very fast ball speed. And the ball speed here at the moment is averaging 152 now with the driver i get about 160. So it's offering loads of ball speed which is helping this ball travel a long way let's go two more it does feel pretty awesome 255 yards of carry distance i mean that is really nice one yard offline by the way second last one was a bit off line i must admit 30 yards. So that would have missed the fairway but four out of five thousand oh now on my last shot i'm actually going to hit this off the floor to see whether the distance changes much. So at the moment i'm averaging at 2-5-1 i'm going to hit one off the floor. And see if it averages much less like i say this shouldn't i'm hitting off a t to get the fairest comparisons so i want strike to jeopardize the results but we'll hit off the floor it's got a nice shallow face so it shouldn't be too tricky to hit off the floor no it wasn't too tricky at all 246 yards of carry. So it's still offered plenty of distance off the floor as well which is what you want. For a 3-wood this is a this is a pretty awesome club you know. For distance wise i don't generally hit a three wood that far if we look at the data up on screen now i'm going to throw this information up there. So we can see if we look in the furthest left column first we've got 153 miles per hour ball speed that's pretty fast you know that's not nothing to be sniffed out there. And i suppose with the speed pocket behind the head that's offering that ball speed decent enough launch angles like i say terminate haven't talked much about lofting up on this i know they've talked about it a lot with the drivers but not so much on the three would actually funny enough or fairway woods in general a decent enough backspin 3000 backspin loads of height 40 yards up in the air 39 yards up in the air so you're going to offer that really soft landing certainly when you're hitting it into long path fours. Or par fives as well the carry distance like i say 250 yards of carry distance that's with real golf balls on gc2 and the good thing with that is it's very closed data. So with that height i think that's probably going to roll another 10-15 yards on top of that on on decent conditions. And the dispersion like i said i hit one bad one i hit one too far to the left. But generally the dispersion was pretty tight there i've hit three less than five yards offline. And then.
A couple that would yeah 20. And 30 yards off live it's more my human error i wouldn't take too much insight but it's a very easy forgiving golf club to hit and distance wise it is massive. So guys that was my review of the taylormade sldr fairway this is the slider that doesn't slide funny how they didn't do that i thought they would do you know i don't see why they wouldn't. But anyway it's got adjustability it's got massive amount of distance it's easy to hit and it's easy enough it hits off the fairway as well with its shallow face and it's good looks this is definitely a club.
