THE ROLE:
Rick Shiels Media Ltd. is seeking a Producer who will be a key figure in leading, organising, and enhancing our video production process. This role requires a dynamic leader who is highly skilled in shoot planning, production management, and team coordination. The Producer will work closely with the Executive Director to set strategic goals, manage the production schedule, and ensure that each piece of content aligns with Rick Shiels Media’s high standards and brand voice.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, creative, problem-solver with a passion for golf, experience in managing video production workflows, and a talent for leading diverse teams. This role also demands adaptability, with a keen sense of current trends in both video and social media to ensure that our content resonates with a global audience.
In addition to HQ-based duties, the Producer must be willing and able to travel globally for a minimum 16 weeks per year to oversee on-location shoots, ensuring the same high production standards and brand consistency across all video content, regardless of location.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Management
· Oversee all stages of video production, from pre-production planning, filming, editing to scheduling to final delivery.
· Collaborate closely with the Executive Director to create a content roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and goals.
· Develop and maintain efficient workflows for content production, reviewing and optimizing processes regularly.
· Liaise with Executive Director and Office Manager to organise and oversee travel, accommodation & visa applications for the production team.
· Oversee equipment budgets. Plan, allocate, and monitor funds for equipment rental, purchase, and maintenance, ensuring all production needs are met while staying within financial constraints.
· Take responsibility for the organization, maintenance, and inventory of all camera equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition and readily available for shoots.
Team Leadership
· Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 4 content producers, 6 video editors, and 2 social media staff, providing guidance, feedback, and development opportunities.
· Conduct regular team check-ins, ensuring all staff have clear direction, targets, and support.
· Foster a collaborative and creative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
Creative Direction
· Ensure that all video content aligns with Rick Shiels Media’s brand standards, style, and tone, and stays current with golf industry trends.
· Partner with the Executive Director and wider RSM team to develop new ideas and concepts for engaging golf-related videos.
· Guide the content production team in script development, visual storytelling, and technical execution to deliver high-quality content.
· Collaborate with third-party stakeholders to ensure all RSM content aligns seamlessly with the company’s vision and mission.
On-Location Shoot Management
· Travel globally for up to 16 weeks per year to oversee on-location shoots, managing logistics, team coordination, and on-site production.
· Ensure that location-based content maintains the same high standards as HQ-produced content, upholding brand consistency and quality.
· Coordinate with local contacts and venues as needed, troubleshooting any on-location challenges.
· Coordinate talent on-site & manage relationships with stakeholders.
Quality Control and Brand Consistency
· Review all video content for quality & brand consistency before publication.
· Develop and enforce quality standards, ensuring each piece of content meets Rick Shiels Media’s expectations for professionalism and creativity.
· Work closely with the Social Media team to ensure content distribution is optimized across platforms and consistently branded.
Project Management and Scheduling
· Develop and manage a comprehensive production calendar to coordinate shoot dates, post-production deadlines, and social media releases.
· Allocate resources effectively, managing team workloads to meet project milestones and deadlines without compromising quality.
Performance Tracking and Reporting
· Provide regular performance updates to the Executive Director, with insights and recommendations for content improvement and future planning.
Stakeholder Communication
· Communicate regularly with the Executive Director, Rick Shiels Group CEO, Managing Director and external stakeholders, updating them on project status, team achievements, and any challenges faced.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in video production or digital media, with a track record in producing high-quality content, ideally in the sports or lifestyle sector. Prior experience managing creative teams is essential.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of video production workflows, including pre-production, shooting, editing, and publishing. Familiarity with industry-standard tools and software is essential with an extensive knowledge of Sony camera equipment & Final Cut Pro. Also, a willingness to occasionally film and edit content is essential.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and mentor teams, with excellent interpersonal skills, and a talent for motivating creative professionals.
Project Management: Exceptional organizational skills with experience in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and senior leaders.
Passion for Golf: Familiarity with the golf industry, with a keen interest in staying updated on golf trends and culture.
Problem Solving: Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements.
Travel Flexibility: Willing and able to travel internationally for up to 16 weeks annually to oversee on-location shoots.
